I couldn't do anything. I sat next to him as if frozen. Only Steve, who tried to open Tony's hand with the matching gloves, made me react again. Tony started to scream. The bright light had now reached his shoulder.

Isabella P.O.V.:

Steve opened his hand inch by inch. As soon as it was open enough, he grabbed Stark's hand with one hand so that it remained open. With the other, he took the ball from me. He took the stone from Tony's hand. He immediately stuffed it into the ball. The light faded. When I looked at Tony, I noticed how far it had already traveled. It had worked its way up to his temple. Now everything was just burned. He tipped backwards. I quickly caught him. Steve stood up and put the ball and the stone on the table.

Tony let out a gasp. "Shh! It'll be fine! It's fine! Shh!" I said to him. I started to panic because I didn't know what I could do. "Steve? Steve!" My voice trembled as I asked about the super soldier. He immediately sat down next to me. He looked at me worriedly: "What's Isabella?" "Call Pepper. She should come here immediately." Everyone was still in shock until this sentence. Now Bruce was standing next to me.Steve just looked there and looked at Tony. "Can anyone call Pepper!?" I called desperately. "Do you think it's that bad?" asked Bruce. Tears welled up in my eyes. I tried to suppress them, but it didn't work. So I quickly wiped the tears away.

Now I let the boss out. "Okay! Everyone listen to me now!" I called. Everyone's eyes were on me. "Natasha, you call Pepper. Bruce and Steve, you take Tony to the hospital wing. Clint, you can help me and Bruce take care of him. The rest get out of the way. Go to the living room or something. Go! Go! Every minute counts!"As soon as I had finished speaking, everyone scurried to their places. It didn't take a minute for everyone to leave the lab.

I was alone, or at least I thought so. It wasn't until a hand wiped away the tears on my cheek that I noticed that someone was there, let alone that I was crying. I sniffed briefly, then I looked up and saw Peter's friendly face."Don't worry. You can do it! I know!" he assured himself more than me before he hugged me. It wasn't much, but it helped. After a moment, I let go of him. "You should go. I want you to stay with Pepper. And then you'll be with Tony too. I know how important he is to you," I said, smiling slightly. He nodded and disappeared towards the exit. Then I got up from the floor and ran to the hospital wing.

Bruce and Steve were easy to find. They seemed a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing. Which is why I could hear them well. I quickly entered the treatment room. "We can't help him!" Bruce shouted as I came in. Steve looked at him angrily. "There has to be something you can do!" he shouted back. Only now did the two of them notice me. "Isabella, what can we do?" Steve asked me immediately."Not much." As I walked towards Tony, who was still unconscious, I explained everything, "we can give him something for the pain, relieve some of the burns on his arm and hope that he wakes up again. So that he can talk to Pepper and maybe Morgan again before he dies."Just saying it hurt me so much, why did he grab it? i didnt want him to die. Gosh Tony you stupid stupid fucker.

"No... You can still help him somehow," Steve said. I shook my head at the same time as Bruce. Bruce explained it to him again briefly: "Infinity stones are from the beginning of time. They have incredible power. Thanos used them twice in three weeks and almost died. He was wearing a glove that was specially made for the stones. Tony touched an Infinity Stone without any protection. He will die and the only thing we can do is make it as bearable as possible for him." I had now sat down next to Tony and reached for his healthy hand. His pulse was there, just as strong as it should be, but it was slow. His heart beat around 30 times per minute. That was not good. In trained adults with good sinus muscle, it was even 35-50 beats per minute. Sighing, I stood up and turned away from Tony. Then I went to the cupboard and got gloves and ointments, as well as lots of morphine injections.

Bruce was annoyed because he knew he couldn't help me. Steve had sat down on the chair next to the door and was watching me. I injected the first syringe into his shoulder. I was just reaching for the second one when Natasha came in. "She's on her way. Sophie is looking after the little ones. She'll be here in about three quarters of an hour," she explained. "Thank you," and with that I concentrated on my work again. She just watched me for a few minutes. Then she asked: "How can I help?" Tony was also a good friend of hers. Even though they sometimes had the odd argument. "Take that one," I pointed to Steve, "and bring him into the living room. Then go and help Peter. He won't be able to look after Pepper on his own." She nodded, then took Steve and left. I concentrated on my work again.

When I was finished his face didn't look so bad. I hadn't been able to save his arm. It was completely burned. So I had wrapped it completely in bandages. His right side now looked a bit like a mummy. He also had a bandage around his neck. Then Clint came in with a bed. I had told Friday to send him here with it. Together we carefully lifted Tony over. Before we took him to his room I hooked him up to two drips. One contained the fluid his body needed for the next few hours, because to be honest I didn't think he would survive the night, the other contained morphine.

Together we pushed him into a room. Clint went back to tell the others. I stayed sitting with Tony. It wasn't long before Pepper came into the room. I immediately stood up. When she saw Tony she put her hand over her mouth. "What? Oh...god! Will he? What happened?" she asked in a trembling voice. Without thinking I hugged her. She cried into my shoulder. When she let go of me she sat down in the seat I had just been sitting in. She looked at him and the tears flowed silently down her cheeks. She carefully took his hand in hers and placed a kiss on it. Then she looked at me, I had meanwhile sat down on the other side of my bed. "Will he... make it?" she asked in a broken voice. "Unlikely. I think if he's lucky he'll make it tonight," the longer I spoke the more my voice trembled. The tears now flowed in streams down her cheeks. She laid her head on his chest. I wanted to give her some time with him. So I stood up and went to the door. There I said: "I'm going to get Morgan and the girls." The last thing I saw before I closed the door behind me was her nodding slightly.

With my head bowed I walked to the garage. When I passed the living room everyone jumped up. "You can sit with them, but be quiet and maybe not all at once. That would be too much for them," I said. In the garage I took my car and drove off. When I arrived at Tony's house, I wiped away my tears before I went in. Sophie looked at me. She was sitting at the table with the others and playing some kind of game with them. "Mom!" Laélia ran towards me. I hugged her and gave her a kiss on the head. Lydia grinned at me. Morgan also came over to me and hugged me. Sophie looked at me and immediately noticed that something was wrong.

"We're all going to the headquarters together now. Tony needs us all there," I explained. "Yay!" Lydia shouted. "We can go to the headquarters!" shouted Morgan and was just as happy as the twins. Sophie said nothing. She seemed to see exactly how difficult this was. We just looked each other in the eyes for a moment and only when the twins called us did we notice that they were already out the door. We stood up and went out the door. "What happened?" Sophie asked. When I locked the door and the little ones were already at the car. "There was an accident," I said without looking at her. She put a hand on my shoulder. "He won't make it, will he?" she then asked. "No..." was all I could say.

When we arrived at the headquarters we got out. We walked in together. We stopped in front of Tony's door on the hospital wing. "Morgan, girls, I have to tell you something," I began. "What's wrong, Aunt Isa?" asked Morgan, who had apparently also noticed that something was wrong. "Your dad, he had an accident. That's why we're here. He was badly injured. He won't be awake... and he'll look different. I had to put a lot of bandages on him. Your mum is already with him. I want you to be strong, please. OK?" I finished my little lecture.

They all looked at me with big eyes. "Is my daddy going to die now?" Morgan asked me, crying slightly. "Yes... yes your daddy is going to die, Morgan," I whispered. Then I hugged them again. Before I stood up again and took the door handle in my hand, I looked at all four of them. "Ready?" I asked. They nodded and I opened the door.
