The Danger Room was a tempest of destruction. Flames licked up through crumbling buildings, casting a hellish glow over the scene. Metal and concrete lay scattered across the battlefield, the remnants of a simulation gone awry. The team fought to regain control, their powers and skills tested to the limit.
Rogue barely had time to react as a massive chunk of titanium hurtled toward her. Colossus was at her side in an instant, his hand transforming into solid steel as he shielded her from the impact. The force of the collision sent the metal flying back, striking Logan square in the face. He barely flinched, his healing factor making quick work of the damage.
Logan, undeterred, turned to the team with a gruff bark. "The whole world's goin' to hell, and you're just gonna sit there? Let's move!"
Bobby stood his ground, his eyes narrowing as he froze an incoming missile mid-air. He shot a smirk back at Kitty, only for her to gasp in alarm. "Bobby, watch out!" she cried, phasing them both just in time as the missile passed harmlessly through their intangible forms.
Rogue caught sight of the pair, her heart sinking as she saw how closely Bobby held onto Kitty. The pang of betrayal stung, but she forced herself to stay focused, pushing the emotion aside.
Logan, oblivious to the tension, casually lit his cigar on a nearby blaze. "We're gettin' killed out here," Storm pointed out, her tone laced with frustration.
"Yeah, I know. They're not ready, Storm," Logan replied, his voice gruff with resignation.
"Oh, they're plenty ready," Lottie retorted, her voice sharp with determination. "You act like protectin' yourself from the end of the world is supposed to be easy."
Storm turned to Logan, about to argue further, but he cut her off with a dismissive wave. "Oh, don't get your panties in a bunch," he grumbled, taking a drag from his cigar.
Before he could finish, a massive piece of debris hurtled toward them. Lottie reacted in a split second, spinning Logan out of harm's way. The debris crashed down where he had just been standing, shattering on impact.
Logan looked at the ground, the remains of his cigar crumpled under the rubble. "That was my last cigar," he muttered with a mix of annoyance and grudging respect for Lottie's quick reflexes.
Lottie just smirked, her eyes flickering with amusement. "You'll live," she quipped, her Southern drawl adding a touch of warmth to her words before pushing forward, her focus already shifting back to the task at hand.
"They're gettin' closer!" Rogue's voice trembled as she shouted over the chaos, her eyes wide with fear.
"Come on, let's keep movin'!" Storm commanded, urging the teens forward, her voice steady despite the danger closing in.
"Hey, tin man!" Logan's gruff voice cut through the noise as he called out to Colossus, catching the metal giant's attention. "Come here!"
Colossus jogged over, his heavy footsteps echoing in the chaotic space. "How's your throwin' arm?" Logan asked, a dangerous glint in his eyes as he unsheathed his claws, the metallic snikt sound sending a shiver through the group.
