I was in the common area, evaluating my students individually on a time bomb simulator, and it was Blake's turn.

She watches the wiring of the pump thoughtfully and I watch her sitting next to her. Her short blonde hair falls over her forehead and I fight my own will to brush hair hair away from her beautiful face.

Uhg! I know. Maybe I'm in serious trouble for liking her so much. But it's hard when everything she does seems to make me like her more. She speaks to me in a profound way through actions and gestures that make me feel understood, she doesn't know it but I understand her much more than she imagines and I like that.

But as the professional that I am, I must keep things as they are. I can never go beyond this limit of mentor and student. That's why I think it's good for me to reevaluate how close I am to her now.

I look around and step away from her a little. Blake holds up a green wire and looks at me uncertainly "Is this the one?" She asks. Yes, it is the right wire. But I'm not going to give her the answer, she has to have confidence in herself and know that it is the right wire.

I shrug, "I don't know," I say, my tone leaning more toward no than yes. I want to see her reaction to this is.

She looks at me confused and analyzes the wire in her hand, her mouth slightly twists in thought. I try to control my face so as not to make any expression that exposes what I'm feeling.

"Oh, is this the one?" Blake holds up a white wire, i look at the wire and then at her, I purposely smirk just to confuse her and shrug "you tell me" I say, she nods.

The timer runs on the display, almost reaching zero "Y-yeah this is it. Of course it is" she cuts the wire and the bomb simulator explodes in a red notification.

Blake pulls her arms away from the simulator and widens her eyes "Wait, what?!" She says confused and I snort a laugh.

Blake looks at me and gasps silently "You misled me!" She says, I laugh and nod "Yeah, I did" I say through a giggle, Blake presses her lips together in irritation.

"With all due respect, Chase. But I didn't find it funny." She crosses her arms and shakes her head. My expression shift serious at hearing this.

She always talks to me with respect and indifference as if I were an authority figure, as she should. But I can't lie that it hurts a little to hear her talk like that with me.

"You're right. But this serves as a lesson for you to be more self-confident and not doubt yourself. After all, the white wire was the right one from the beginning," I explain to her. "Aw Seriously?!" She says indignantly.

"Yeah, you should have held on to that," I say, leaning my hand on the console she's at. She sighs and looks down, "Sorry," she says. I smile, "Why? You're here to learn, aren't you?" I say with a comforting smile.

She looks up at me with a soft smile, her lips showing "Yeah, I'm trying tho" she says, I bite my lip with the need to comfort her "You're doing great" I say, she nods still thinking about the test she had just failed. Poor thing.

I reach out my hand towards her shoulder but hesitate, I clear my throat and step away from the console "Come, I have an announcement to make to the students in the training area" I tell her.

Blake stands up and walks past me toward the training area. I squeeze my eyes shut with a mixture of regret and shame. I can't feed these feelings so don't do anything.

I let out a breath, I feel my face flush slightly but I need to ignore it. I enter the training area with the other students "All right, listen up, guys." I say putting my hands on my hips.
