The night air was cool, with a gentle breeze wafting through the mansion as the sky outside shimmered with countless stars. Inside the grand halls of the gala, festivities continued, yet Wei Ying, Lan Zhan, and their twins remained absent. The party might have been the focus of everyone else's attention, but to the four of them, nothing mattered more than the time they now spent together.

The twins had not stopped peppering Lan Zhan with questions since they'd left the private room. Jingyi and Shizhu's curiosity was endless, their excitement bubbling over as they eagerly learned everything they could about their newly discovered baba. Their small hands clung to him as they walked, and Wei Ying watched them with a soft smile, his heart swelling with an overwhelming mixture of joy and guilt.

He couldn't help but feel guilty as he saw how much his sons adored their father. Despite all his good intentions, Wei Ying had kept Lan Zhan away from them for so long, and now the twins were making up for lost time with boundless enthusiasm.

Lan Zhan, for his part, seemed unfazed by the barrage of questions. He answered each one patiently, his deep voice filled with a quiet affection that Wei Ying hadn't heard before. Lan Zhan's normally stoic demeanor had softened, and in the presence of his sons, there was a warmth in him that Wei Ying had only ever imagined.

Once they arrived at the Wei mansion, the twins were practically bouncing with energy, their eyes wide with excitement as they held onto Lan Zhan's hands.

"Baba, you're really coming home with us?" Jingyi asked for what seemed like the hundredth time.

"Yes," Lan Zhan confirmed, his lips curling into the faintest smile as he glanced at Wei Ying. "I'm coming home with you."

The twins cheered, their happiness infectious as they tugged their father toward the front door. Wei Ying watched them, his chest tight with emotion. He hadn't realized how much his children had longed for this, and seeing them so happy both warmed his heart and filled him with regret for the years they had lost.

Inside the mansion, Wei Ying moved with practiced ease, helping the twins prepare for bed. Normally, he would have managed on his own, but tonight, Lan Zhan was there beside him, and the two of them worked together as though they had been doing it for years. Lan Zhan bathed Jingyi while Wei Ying took care of Shizhu, and the twins giggled and splashed around, their joy contagious.

The entire time, Wei Ying couldn't stop glancing at Lan Zhan. He moved with such gentle precision, handling the children as though they were the most precious treasures in the world. It was clear that Lan Zhan had already fallen deeply in love with them, and it wasn't long before that affection extended to Wei Ying as well.

When the twins were finally bathed and dressed in their pajamas, it was Lan Zhan who tucked them into bed. He sat at the edge of their small beds, reading them a bedtime story, his deep voice soothing as he spoke. Jingyi and Shizhu listened with wide, sleepy eyes, their small bodies cuddling into their blankets as they fought to stay awake.

Wei Ying leaned against the doorframe, watching the scene unfold with a tender smile on his face. It was almost surreal, seeing Lan Zhan fit so naturally into their lives. In that moment, all of Wei Ying's fears and worries seemed to melt away, replaced by a quiet contentment that he hadn't felt in years.

By the time Lan Zhan finished the story, both boys had drifted off to sleep, their tiny bodies curled up peacefully. Lan Zhan gently brushed a strand of hair from Shizhu's forehead before standing up and joining Wei Ying by the door.

"They're perfect," Lan Zhan said softly, his voice filled with awe.

Wei Ying nodded, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "They are," he whispered.

Together, they stepped out of the bedroom, closing the door behind them before making their way to the balcony. The night was quiet, the only sound the soft rustling of leaves in the breeze. Wei Ying poured them both a cup of tea, and they sat together, side by side, beneath the starry sky.

For a while, they sipped their tea in comfortable silence, simply enjoying the peace that had settled between them. It felt natural, like they had been sharing these quiet moments for years instead of just one night.

After a few minutes, Lan Zhan set his cup down and stood up. He moved toward Wei Ying, his eyes gentle but filled with an intensity that made Wei Ying's heart skip a beat. Without saying a word, Lan Zhan reached out and took Wei Ying's hand in his, his touch warm and reassuring.

"I'm happy," Lan Zhan said quietly, his voice low and intimate. "Thank you for letting me be a part of their lives. And for... allowing me to court you."

Wei Ying's heart fluttered at the words, a blush creeping up his cheeks. He had always known that Lan Zhan was serious, but hearing him say it so earnestly made everything feel even more real. He smiled shyly, looking down at their joined hands.

"I'm happy too," Wei Ying whispered.

Lan Zhan stepped closer, his free hand gently lifting Wei Ying's chin so that their eyes met. There was something in Lan Zhan's gaze, something raw and unguarded that made Wei Ying's breath catch in his throat.

"May I kiss you?" Lan Zhan asked softly, his voice barely more than a whisper.

Wei Ying's heart pounded in his chest, but he nodded, unable to find the words to speak.

With a slow, deliberate movement, Lan Zhan leaned down and pressed his lips to Wei Ying's. The kiss was gentle at first, a soft exploration of something long overdue. But as the seconds passed, it deepened, becoming more passionate, more urgent. It was as though years of longing and unspoken feelings were finally being released, and in that moment, nothing else mattered.

Wei Ying melted into the kiss, his arms wrapping around Lan Zhan's neck as he pulled him closer. It felt right, like this was where he was always meant to be. In Lan Zhan's arms, the world faded away, leaving only the two of them beneath the stars.

When they finally pulled away, they were both breathless, their foreheads resting together as they held each other close. Neither of them spoke, but there was no need for words. Everything they needed to say had been said in that kiss.

Lan Zhan pressed a soft kiss to Wei Ying's forehead before pulling him into a warm embrace. They stood like that for a long time, wrapped in each other's arms, watching the stars twinkle above them.

For the first time in years, Wei Ying felt at peace. With Lan Zhan by his side, and their children asleep in the next room, it felt like they were finally home.
