"All the surgeries were successful, the recovery prognosis looks excellent. He will be shifted to a normal ward in an hour and after he regains consciousness, the family can meet him." Aadhyaa informed the family with a smile. Dhrithi rushed and hugged her tightly while muttering n number of thank yous.
Aadhyaa smiled and broke the hug. She handed her the medical file and left the place while the whole family had their moment of peace.
"Okay bro, I'll leave. I need to get back to the hospital I work at. It is time for my shift." Vivek informed and left after giving brief hugs to the others.
Mayank and Anyra settled down and started talking while Aadhyaa was finishing her post Op reports.
The day went normal for everyone and days passed. Harshan was slowly recovering but Aadhyaa never visited him as his sister. She occasionally went for his checkup and to check his recovery but never as a casual visit.
Harshan was now getting ready to be discharged when Aadhyaa entered the ward with his discharge papers. She handed them over to him for his signature. She informed the nurse to collect the form after he signed it and was about to leave when he called out.
"Aya?" He said, making her tear up a little. She never had a casual conversation with him since she returned as he was busy with his clients and they hadn't talked on phone too for the past 6 months.
She turned back, holding back her tears. He gazed at her face longingly but she refused to accept it.
"Aya, please, atleast list-" He started but she asked him to stop.
"Mr.Harshan, your discharge papers are to be submitted right now, so unless you plan on prolonging your stay in my hospital, I think you should sign it." She said in an emotionless voice while the nurse and Alok present there looked at the scene in confusion.
Harshan sighed and signed the paper but he halted before handing the form.
"Wait, 'your' hospital? You own this place?" He asked. Shock was an understatement to what he was feeling.
"Aadhyank, it stands for Aadhyaa and Mayank. The neurosurgeon who treated your brain injury's name is Mayank, Dr. Mayank Shresht." She explained while he just gasped at her.
They both heard a gasp and turned to see the whole family standing there in shock.
"Wait, none of you had any idea? Isn't the name obvious?" She said the last line to Alok, who nodded in agreement. "Wow, you guys don't even see business magazines and national newspapers." She chuckled bitterly
"It is quite obvious, to be honest. Aadh in Aadhyank stands for Dr. Aadhyaa's name while the Yank stands for Dr. Mayank's name. Everyone interning in this hospital knows the history. Even the patients know it." He explained but the others were too shocked.
"Okay, I'll leave to give your family the personal space." She nodded at Alok, who followed her immediately.
"Come in." Aadhyaa shouted from her desk, while her eyes were fixed at her laptop.
She heard the door open but there was silence. She waited for the person to say something and continued her work while the person remained silent. She got confused and removed her eyes from the laptop to find her father standing in front of her desk.
"Can I help you?" She asked him politely, and turned to her laptop to continue her work.
"Why are you behaving this way?" He said. The anger was evident in his voice.
"Behaving what way?" She questioned him in return and heard a sigh.
"Can I atleast take a seat?" Her father asked and she nodded curtly, indicating to him to proceed.
He sat down and observed his daughter typing something in her laptop. Unable to work under his gaze, she sighed and closed her laptop and faced him face-to-face.
"What are you doing here? You should be home welcoming your son. He has been through a lot." She said, while the pain was evident in her voice.
"Why are you still like this?" He asked, sighing.
"Look, if you are gonna sit here, asking vague questions that aren't clear, then you should leave because I have surgeries lined up." She said in a frustrated voice, and pinched her eyebrows to control herself.
"Are you really asking your father to leave? Do you think you have that much courage? I am the one who raised you, who made sure you are in this position. The surgeries you have lined up is because of me. Be thankful that you are here and give respect, I am double your age, understand?" Her father yelled at her, making her roll her eyes. She smirked at him, and then turned on the DND light outside her cabin.
