Aadhyaa opened the box, and saw the box quarter filled with envelopes, all of the same size and same kind. All the letters had her name on top, just like the one on the top of the box. She moved the letters and found some old photos on the bottom. She closed the box and took it on the go to the hospital.
She first went to her office to keep the box there, as she didn't want her family to know about this. She went to the VIP ward, where her father was lying in one of the rooms with all the support machines hooked up and handed the bag that contained her mother's clothes to her brother.
She returned to her cabin and turned on her DND light. She settled on her chair comfortably and kept the box carefully on her table. She caressed the writing on the box, which was actually Golden in color, and then opened it to see the envelopes, all looking similar. She decided to open the envelopes before looking at the pictures.
She picked up one of the envelopes and first observed it. It was a normal envelope, which was light lavender in color. It had tiny patterns of balloons and flowers and was sealed at the opening with a small ornamental flower stuck between the clear seal. She flipped it to the backside and saw the writings, which were in gold again. She ran her thumb over it and then noticed a small 'R' on the right corner. It was quite bold looking, and noticeable.
She quickly picked up another one, to find a different letter 'M' on it. She quickly spread all the envelopes on her table and looked at the various letters on the top right corner. She took her notepad and noted the letters which were R, I, M, S, R, O, A, and Y. She tried to make various words using those letters when she finally realized what it was.
She quickly arranged the letters in the correct order and read the letters in the correct order.
"I-A-M-S-O-R-R-Y. I am sorry." She said, and then closed her mouth with her palm.
Her father was definitely brilliant, no doubt. But all his life, he just used and did stuff in the wrong way. His intentions were never of the wrong kind, just the methods were wrong. But this was next level genius. She never expected to find the order to read the envelopes to be listed in this method.
"Brilliant." She muttered as she picked up the first envelope, which contained the letter I.
She opened the seal carefully using a precision knife and then slid her index and second finger inside the envelope. Some sort of paper was felt by her. She tried to feel it further from outside and felt nothing but the paper inside. She let out a heavy breath and tilted the whole envelope upside down, with anticipation brimming to the top. Her heart beat was audible to her, without the need of a stethoscope.
A neatly folded letter fell down on her desk, from the insides of the envelope. It was a paper, with smooth inscriptions of some waves like doodles on the whole paper. The paper was light blue in color, so light that it was just mildly noticeable.
Aadhyaa felt the paper slowly, as if she was absorbing the feel of her father's emotions while packing this paper. She opened her eyes and slowly unfolded the paper. It was folded in three segments, which she slowly unfurled and recognised it to be a letter. She chuckled silently.
"A letter? Nice work dad." She muttered to the silence in her room. Suddenly, the air in her room felt comfortingly warm and she felt as if the slow breezes from the air conditioner was actually encouraging her to read the letter.
Aadhyaa took a deep breath, before clearing her throat as she started to read the letter. Somehow, every word in that letter was read in her father, Mahadevan's voice, in her head. Each and every word was forming pictures in her mind. She was completely lost in the letter. She started to read it, with tears in her eyes.
