It’s been about a week since the whole Moira situation and the alphas have been rather…protective. Zarya more so than the others, despite my reassurance of it not being her fault. The Russian had me with her most of the time, joining her on patrols or helping her with mission briefs and debriefs. I can’t say that I was annoyed since not only was the information helping my mission but she also didn’t overstep any of my boundaries.

When I wasn’t with her, the others took over her role. Pharah and Mercy were the most suffocating, the two doting on me as they kept an eye out for anymore side effects of the serum. Tracer was next, the alpha settling for physical touch and promising me that Moira is going to pay for what she did. Brigitte was more or so like Zarya, checking in on me and spending time with me while also keeping an eye on my condition. I hadn’t seen the Arch-Commandant much since the incident, only having checked up on me twice. Although on the rare chance that I wasn’t with any of the previously mentioned alphas, I could swear that I spotted the sniper in my peripheral. However when I looked to verify she was gone so I could also be imagining things. Also now one of them always went with me whenever I had appointments with Moira. This seemed to annoy the geneticist, more so when Zarya accompanied me but she had to deal with it.

Despite my growing anger towards Moira I couldn’t help but become concerned for Overwatch. The intel I had gathered from Zarya’s mission briefs spelled only one thing for my fellow agents-failure. I had sent the info I gathered to Captain Reaper and I have yet to receive a response from him.

I had to push that concern aside however. Right now they still need me as a spy and I will continue to get them information. Although as I began to get dressed for the day my communication device finally went off. I rushed over to pick it up. Instead of Captain Reaper however, it was Commander Akande.

“Commander!”

“I’m happy to see that you’re alright Y/N. Captain Reaper has informed me of your progress and…situation.”

“He was a bit hesitant on me continuing-”

“And I agree with him Y/N. We do not want you forced into any breeding program. It is cruel and archaic. I waited to contact you because we were making your rendezvous plan.”

“My rendezvous plan? Is my-”

“Yes, but there is one last thing you must do before your mission is over.”

“What is it?”

“I only ask that you take out Moira. She is a liability and has secrets that must not get out. You understand how dangerous she could be if left with Talon?”

“Yes sir. I’ll take her out.”

“Good. I’ll have Sombra hack their systems so their cameras don’t detect you. Meet at the rendezvous point in an hour.”

“Yes sir.”

My dorm filled with silence as I ended the call. The air felt light weight against my shoulders when the situation dawned on me. I take a deep breath making my way towards my weapon closet. I open it grabbing a pistol and a silencer. I swiftly equip the silencer, tucking it into my waistband before leaving my room. I proceeded to act normal while I walked towards Moira’s lab, greeting a few soldiers on my way.

Within a few minutes I reached the laboratory wing of the base, thankfully the only few occupants being in their own labs. None of them were near Moira’s which made my mission just a tad easier. Her lab door opened before me, surprisingly the geneticist being nowhere in sight. My eyes shift to her office, noticing the door open.

“Y/N I’m surprised to see you. You don’t have an appointment today.” Her voice greets me as I walk in.

I shut the door before turning towards her, our eyes maintaining eye contact. She sighs, fixing the stack of papers before her.

“I was wondering when they’d give you the order.”

“Commander Akande just gave it.” I snarl revealing the pistol and aiming it at her.

“I expected that from him. Neither one of them could really grasp the reality of the situation.” She sighs staring right into my eyes, “However that doesn’t mean that you can. Surely you know better than this. Mercy is still on base-”

“Not anymore. She left this morning on a mission.” I smirk taking small joy in the quick second of fear in her eyes, “I would say this isn’t personal but ya know I think it is.”

“When they find out-”

“By the time they figure it out I’ll be gone.” I snarl firing the pistol.

The gun made little to no noise, the bullet going straight through her chest. Her body slumped in the chair as blood and other tissues stain the chair and floor. I didn't look at her for long, grabbing her holoscreen with her research on it. I made sure I didn’t have any blood on me before swiftly making my exit. Once more there was no one in the hallway and I kept my head down as I left the wing. I held my emotions at bay as my adrenaline soared through my body. Sadly I was too focused on the feeling and didn’t realize I had bumped into someone until I felt a hand on my arm.

“-you okay?” I hear Brigitte ask moving to stand in front of me so her yellow eyes could look into mine.

“I’m fine.” I smile attempting to hide my shaking hand.

“It doesn’t look like it. You’re shaking-”

“I said I’m fine.” I snapped at the alpha causing her to take a step back in shock. I sigh, noticing her growing concern, “Look I just had a rough day okay? I just want to head back to my dorm and sleep it off.”

She nods but doesn’t seem fully convinced, “Ok. Just let me know if you need anything.”

“I will.”

I waited with baited breath as she walked off, not moving until she was out of sight. I swiftly made my way towards the vehicle bay, successfully able to catch one right before they were about to head into town. I thank them, the beta only nodding as I joined them in the back. I kept to myself while the others indulged in conversation. After a few minutes we arrived in the town and I immediately headed off away from the others. Thankfully they don’t question it, going the opposite way towards a few clubs.

Once far away I pulled out my communication device, notifying Captain Reaper that I was moving towards the rendezvous point. However as I got closer my stomach couldn’t help but sink.

Ana POV

My eyes widened when I entered the lab, immediately spotting the dead geneticist on the floor. I tsk while they shift to the other soldiers in the room. They tense upon my gaze landing on them.

“Have you found anything?”

“No ma’am not yet. We have a few others questioning some of the other lab assistants.”

I sigh, shaking my head, “Was any of her research salvageable?”

“No. Whoever killed her wiped it clean.”

I couldn’t help the growl that escaped my throat. My mind raced through the possible suspects. Could it have been one of the captains? They were all riled up after the incident between Moira and F/N. Although it wouldn’t make sense for them to take her out now. She was still sorting through the best matches for F/N. They’d only ruin their chance by taking her out.

“Arch-Commandant!”

I turn spotting a soldier rushing over to me, “What is it?”

“One of the assistants stated that the last person they saw enter and leave this lab was F/N.”

My blood runs cold upon hearing her name. It would make sense she’d attempt to kill her, especially after what she's done. What I was more concerned with however, was how I’m going to get her out of this mess.

“Alright you two come with me. We’ll question her-”

“Ma’am wait, we found this note next to her body. I can hardly read what it says-”

I snatch the note out of his hand, ignoring Moira’s blood on it. My eyes narrow as I struggle to understand what it says. It takes me about a minute to finally make the message-F/N was an Overwatch agent. Below it was another name-Y/N L/N. Immediately my head snapped back towards the soldiers, the group jumping back in shock.

“Find F/N and arrest her!”
