The weekend had arrived, and with it, the promise of a relaxing outing for the Kim family. Seokjin had planned a day out at a nearby park to take a break from work and enjoy some quality time together. Taehyung, ever the opportunist, saw this as a chance to gather more “evidence” about Yoongi, who would be joining them for the day.
The park was sprawling and picturesque, with lush greenery and a charming little lake that provided a serene backdrop to their day out. The family had spread out a picnic blanket under a large oak tree, and the atmosphere was one of contented relaxation. Taehyung, however, was anything but relaxed. He was on high alert, his eyes constantly darting towards Yoongi.
Seokjin and Yoongi were engaged in light conversation near the lake, their laughter mingling with the sound of chirping birds. Taehyung, meanwhile, was setting up a game of frisbee with Namjoon and their parents, but his attention was clearly divided.
“I’m telling you,” Taehyung said to Namjoon, who was trying to enjoy a sandwich, “Yoongi is acting even more mysterious than usual today.”
Namjoon raised an eyebrow, clearly uninterested in Taehyung’s conspiracy theories. “Tae, you’ve been on this ghost kick for weeks. Maybe it’s time to let it go.”
Taehyung shot him a look. “You just wait. Something’s going to happen. I can feel it.”
As the day went on, Taehyung’s suspicion seemed to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. He noticed that every time he tried to approach Yoongi, the young man would seem to glide effortlessly away, like he was trying to avoid detection. Yoongi would always manage to find some excuse to move farther from the group or change the subject when Taehyung’s questions became too pointed.
The highlight of the day was a little adventure that Seokjin had planned: a small hiking trail that led to an observation deck overlooking the park. It was a perfect spot to get a panoramic view of the area, and everyone was excited to make the short trek.
As they made their way up the trail, Taehyung couldn’t help but notice how Yoongi hung back, always a few steps behind the rest of them. It wasn’t unusual for someone to be a bit out of sync with the group, but Taehyung’s “ghost senses” were tingling.
They reached the observation deck, a wooden platform perched precariously on the edge of a steep incline. The view was breathtaking, but Taehyung’s eyes were fixed on Yoongi, who was now standing at the edge of the deck, looking out at the scenery.
Seokjin and the rest of the family were taking pictures and chatting happily, unaware of Taehyung’s growing unease. Taehyung kept glancing over his shoulder at Yoongi, who seemed to be absorbed in the view. Something about the way Yoongi stood there made Taehyung’s stomach churn.
Without warning, a sudden gust of wind swept through the area, causing the wooden deck to creak ominously. Taehyung watched in horror as Yoongi, seemingly caught off balance, staggered dangerously close to the edge. The sudden movement made it look as though Yoongi was about to fall.
“No!” Taehyung shouted, his voice cracking with panic. He lunged towards Yoongi, but the next moment, everything happened in a blur. A loud, hollow thud echoed through the air, and Taehyung saw Yoongi’s figure topple over the edge. The sight of Yoongi falling seemed to stretch into slow motion, and Taehyung’s heart raced with terror.
“Yoongi!” Seokjin cried out, rushing to the edge of the platform. The rest of the family was already scrambling, their faces etched with concern. Taehyung, shaking and breathless, scrambled to the edge as well, peering over the side of the observation deck.
But there was no sign of Yoongi. The ground below was steep and rugged, but the area where Yoongi had fallen was eerily empty. Taehyung’s eyes darted around frantically, trying to find any sign of Yoongi’s presence. The sound of the wind rustling through the trees seemed to mock his desperation.
“Where is he?” Seokjin’s voice was hoarse, his face pale as he looked over the edge, his eyes wide with fear.
Taehyung’s heart pounded in his chest. “I—I saw him fall. He must be down there!”
Namjoon immediately pulled out his phone and dialed emergency services, while Mrs. Kim and Taehyung’s father began shouting for help, trying to alert anyone nearby. Taehyung, however, was still fixated on the spot where Yoongi had fallen.
Minutes felt like hours as the family waited for help to arrive. Taehyung paced anxiously, his mind racing with possibilities. *Could Yoongi have survived that fall? Was it even possible?* His thoughts were a jumbled mess of worry and disbelief.
When the rescue team finally arrived, they conducted a thorough search of the area. Taehyung clung to the hope that Yoongi would be found safe, but his heart sank with each passing moment. The search continued well into the evening, but no trace of Yoongi was found.
Seokjin was beside himself with worry, his face a mixture of anguish and confusion. “How could this happen? Where is he?”
Taehyung, feeling a gnawing sense of guilt and responsibility, tried to offer comfort, but the words felt hollow. *Had he been wrong about Yoongi all along? Was there an explanation for what had happened that he just couldn’t see?*
As the sun dipped below the horizon and the rescue team finally called off the search for the night, Taehyung stood alone at the edge of the observation deck, looking out at the darkening landscape. The day that had started with such promise had ended in a tragic mystery, and he was left grappling with the chilling realization that Yoongi had vanished without a trace.
