As the days went by after the family gathering, Taehyung’s suspicion of Yoongi’s ghostly nature remained unabated. Despite Yoongi’s successful integration into the Kim family and the warm reactions from most of his relatives, Taehyung was more determined than ever to prove that his brother’s boyfriend was, in fact, not of this world.
Taehyung’s obsession with Yoongi’s supposed ghostliness reached new heights. He spent days plotting an elaborate prank, convinced that if he could just catch Yoongi in the act of being a ghost, he could finally win his bet with Namjoon and validate his own theories.
The plan was set for a Friday night, when Seokjin and Yoongi were scheduled for a quiet evening at home. Taehyung seized the opportunity to set his elaborate trap in motion. He enlisted the help of his friend, Minho, who was skilled with technology and had a knack for creating convincing special effects.
Taehyung and Minho arrived early at Seokjin’s mansion to prepare the scene. They rigged the living room with hidden speakers, motion sensors, and various other gadgets to create the perfect “haunted” atmosphere. The lights were fitted with dimmers, and strategically placed fog machines promised to deliver the right amount of eerie mist.
“Alright, Minho, everything’s set,” Taehyung said, surveying the room with a satisfied grin. “The moment Yoongi steps in here, we’re going to have him second-guessing his own existence.”
Minho chuckled. “This better work, Taehyung. I’ve never seen someone so determined to prove that their brother’s boyfriend is a ghost.”
As evening approached, Seokjin and Yoongi arrived at the mansion, completely unaware of the ghostly prank that awaited them. They walked in, greeted by Taehyung, who feigned casualness as he welcomed them with an exaggerated, “Hey, welcome!”
The evening seemed to go smoothly at first. The three of them settled into the living room, chatting and laughing about mundane topics. Taehyung could hardly contain his excitement, knowing that the moment was drawing near.
As the clock struck 9 p.m., Taehyung gave Minho the signal. The lights dimmed, and the fog machines whirred to life, filling the room with a misty haze. Creepy, ambient sounds began to play through the hidden speakers—moaning winds, creaking doors, and faint whispers.
Yoongi looked around, his calm demeanor unshaken by the sudden atmospheric change. Seokjin raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by Taehyung’s antics. “What’s this about, Taehyung?”
Taehyung tried to play it cool, his heart racing with anticipation. “Just a little surprise for Yoongi. I thought it’d be fun to test his bravery.”
Yoongi glanced at Seokjin, then back at Taehyung, his expression one of mild curiosity. “Interesting choice for a Friday night.”
Just as Taehyung was about to unleash the pièce de résistance—his secret “ghost” effect, a series of floating candles suspended by nearly invisible wires—Minho’s phone buzzed with a message. Startled, Minho accidentally triggered one of the sensors too early.
In an instant, the candles floated up and began to sway unnaturally, casting flickering shadows across the walls. Taehyung’s eyes widened with glee. This was it—the moment he had been waiting for.
But instead of the terror-stricken reaction he had anticipated, Yoongi looked up at the floating candles with a bemused smile. He reached out a hand, gently catching one of the candles and holding it up. The flickering flame danced in his eyes as he chuckled softly.
“Nice effects,” Yoongi said, clearly enjoying the playful setup. “You’re quite the creative one, Taehyung.”
Seokjin burst out laughing, clearly amused by Taehyung’s elaborate prank. “Yoongi, you’re playing along?”
Yoongi nodded, still holding the candle. “Of course. I didn’t want to ruin the fun.”
Taehyung, flustered by Yoongi’s reaction, scrambled to maintain his composure. “Wait, you’re not scared? How is that possible?”
Just then, Minho’s phone buzzed again, and the speakers blared an unintended, high-pitched noise. The fog machines started to malfunction, spewing out excessive amounts of fog that began to engulf the room, creating an almost comical scene of disarray.
Yoongi laughed heartily at the spectacle. “I think your ‘ghost’ might need a bit of fine-tuning, Taehyung.”
As the fog slowly cleared and the room returned to normal, Taehyung stood there, red-faced but resolute. “Alright, alright. Maybe you’re not a ghost. But don’t think this is over.”
Yoongi, still smiling, extended a hand to Taehyung. “I appreciate the effort. And don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. You can test out your ghost theories as much as you want.”
Seokjin gave Taehyung a reassuring pat on the back. “See, Taehyung? Yoongi’s not a ghost. He’s just an amazing guy.”
Taehyung sighed in defeat but couldn’t help but smile at the genuine camaraderie and affection displayed by Yoongi. Despite his earlier skepticism, he began to see Yoongi in a new light. The prank had backfired spectacularly, but in doing so, it had revealed the warmth and charm that Yoongi brought into their lives.
As the night ended, Taehyung grudgingly admitted defeat but did so with a newfound respect for Yoongi. The prank had not only failed to prove Yoongi was a ghost but had also shown him just how special Seokjin’s boyfriend truly was.
