The roar of the crowd had barely faded as I walked through the backstage corridors of the arena. I had come to see Nikki Sixx, my secret boyfriend, and surprise him after the show. We had been together for a few months, but our relationship was kept under wraps due to his complicated personal life. I was always excited to see him, but tonight felt different. My heart raced with anticipation as I clutched a small bouquet of roses, hoping to make his night even better.
As I approached the green room, I noticed a few unfamiliar faces in the hallway. Staff members were bustling about, and I could hear snippets of conversation about meetings and plans. I finally reached the green room door and pushed it open, stepping inside with a big smile on my face.
"Nikki!" I called out, scanning the room for him. My heart sank as I noticed a woman with a wedding ring standing near the dressing area. She was talking to Nikki, her expression a mix of concern and irritation. Nikki's face, usually so confident and charismatic, was now a mask of guilt.
The woman's eyes widened as she saw me, and the tension in the room escalated instantly. Nikki looked up, his face draining of color as he recognized me.
"Oh no," Nikki muttered under his breath, his eyes darting between me and the woman. "This isn't good."
I froze, confusion and hurt mingling with the excitement that had brought me here. The woman's gaze was now locked on me, and I could see the realization dawning in her eyes.
"I didn't know you'd be here," Nikki said, trying to sound casual but failing miserably.
I took a deep breath, trying to keep my composure. "I came to surprise you, Nikki. I didn't realize you'd have company."
The woman, clearly his wife, stepped forward. Her expression was a mix of disbelief and anger. "So, this is how it is, Nikki? You're seeing someone else while you're married to me?"
Nikki's face was flushed with embarrassment. "I'm sorry, Jennifer. I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I—"
Before he could finish, Jennifer cut him off, her voice shaking with emotion. "Save it, Nikki. I don't want to hear any excuses. I came here to support you, but I didn't expect to find this."
I stood there, feeling like I was in a nightmare. Nikki and I had been careful to keep our relationship private, but now everything was unraveling in front of me. I looked at Nikki, who was clearly torn between the two of us, and then at Jennifer, whose hurt was palpable.
"I didn't know about her," Jennifer said, her voice softening slightly as she looked at me. "I thought I was the only one."
Nikki tried to step towards me, but Jennifer held up a hand. "No, Nikki. This isn't just about you. I need to understand what's going on here."
Jennifer's gaze shifted to me, and I felt a pang of sympathy for her. "I didn't know you were married," I said quietly, my voice trembling. "Nikki never mentioned it. I didn't mean to intrude."
Jennifer sighed, her shoulders slumping. "I guess that's the problem, isn't it? He's been hiding this whole side of his life from me. And now here you are."
Nikki ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. "I'm sorry, Jennifer. I made a mistake. I should have been honest with you both."
Jennifer shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears. "It's too late for apologies, Nikki. I think we both need some time to process this."
With that, Jennifer turned and walked out of the green room, leaving Nikki and me standing there in stunned silence. The weight of the situation was overwhelming, and I could see the regret etched on Nikki's face.
"I'm so sorry," Nikki said, his voice barely above a whisper as he turned to me. "I didn't want this to happen. I thought I could keep it all under control."
I shook my head, trying to process everything that had happened. "Nikki, I... I don't know what to say. I didn't expect this."
Nikki stepped closer, reaching out to touch my arm. "Please, don't hate me. I didn't mean for any of this. I care about you, and I'm so sorry for how things turned out."
I looked into his eyes, searching for the truth behind his words. Despite the hurt and betrayal, I could see that he was genuinely remorseful. But the reality of the situation was clear—our relationship had been built on a foundation of lies, and it was falling apart.
"I don't hate you, Nikki," I said softly. "But I need some time to think. This is a lot to process."
Nikki nodded, his expression somber. "I understand. Take all the time you need. I just hope we can find a way to work through this."
As I turned to leave the green room, I felt a mixture of sadness and determination. The evening had not gone as planned, and the future of my relationship with Nikki was uncertain. But one thing was clear—I needed to take control of my own life and make decisions that were best for me.
As I walked out of the arena, I couldn't shake the feeling that everything had changed. The backstage surprise had turned into a revelation of hidden truths, and now I was left to navigate the aftermath. The road ahead would be difficult, but I was ready to face it head-on.
