She danced and danced and danced, until her legs went numb

She danced and danced and danced, until her legs went numb. She moved gently her arms, her fingers still as glass as she moved around. Sweat dripping from her forehead, stiff—awkward moves lingering from her pained body.

Unable to maintain herself, she jumped off the floor. A new feeling rushing in her veins. A freedom she felt hungry for, the air that finally filled her empty lungs. When her legs hit the floor again, it felt like despair to hold this feeling for longer.

She jumped and moved in a liberating way, each spasm a new addition to the unrecognizable melody that accompanied her in the back.

When the music stopped and silence triggered her ears, the thoughts that she kept pushing away rushed to her mind.

To be in a constant turmoil, each shield of protection melting under the fire his eyes had erupted. Like those pieces were made of something soft and elastic, with its solidarity ignored, the icy ocean smashed each one of them down like they weighed nothing.

She felt terrified against the sudden void in her shield. Strong wind filled the new gap, sending chills down to her body with each breeze. Naked, exposed for plain eyes to notice her soul. Weak upon the new matters that had shifted everything she once knew.

'Cause with one cold stare, he had led her to a looped abyss, where she'd walk around with no visible exit. Just walk and walk until he'd raise his hand and grab her out of the darkness. He had opened a part of her, so fragile, yet only he himself would be able to close it again. And she'd have to stay there, freezing and fighting, waiting for him to come back and give her what she desires most. Until then, nothing that she'd feel would be able to fill the void... till him.

"Hey," Evan bumped her softly with his shoulder, the lighthearted expression on his face warmed her empty heart.

"Hey you," a small beam followed Julie's words.

She held her backpack's leash tighter, the freeing feeling from before vanishing into thin air. She sighed at the sudden burden in her chest. Flynn's mother used to own a dance studio, until she got too exhausted and the place closed down. Julie and Flynn had asked her to give them the keys of it since it was just getting dusty without anyone to use it.

Too sentimentally for her to rent or sell, but the place still remained dirty and unused. Until they got the keys, and now whenever they wanted to they could go there and let their expression fly from their chests.

"I missed you."

The boy muttered in hesitation, almost like he had practiced the words in front of a mirror dozen times until he'd meet her.

"Oh," a surprised gasp left her lips, but she hasted to hide it. "I mean— I saw you yesterday."

She bit her lip with an uneasy feeling blooming inside her, her cheeks maroon under the snowy night. A short walk accompanied by crystal snowflakes upon their heads complimenting the rough darkness that danced around Julie.
