."Uuuggghh...."
MARI groaned in her bed, taking deep breaths as she slowly turned her head to MOM. She felt the thermometer get taken out from under her tongue after it beeped, seeing her mother put her hand on her own cheek.
MOM: "Goodness... 101 Degrees. Looks like that colds gotten worse." She heard MARI cough. "Poor baby... Maybe we shouldn't go to Church today. I can just stay here in case you need anything, honey."
MARI sniffled and sat up a bit, groaning again as she sat up. "No MOM, it's fine. I don't want you to miss it because of this stupid cold." She sounded stuffy before she blew her nose, groaning before staring at the ceiling. "Ughh... I just need to rest. I'm sorry we couldn't go together."
MOM smiled and pet MARI'S forehead lightly. "Oh hon... Alright. You rest up then, we'll make sure the PREACHER knows about this too, along with our recent blessing. He'd love to hear that our prayers have been answered." She poured the Cold Syrup and sat her up. "Alright, better take this before we go."
MARI groaned and took off her face mask, slowly drank the Syrup, a shiver down her spine as she stuck out her tongue. "Bleugh. Even if it's cherry flavored, it's still gross..." She put the mask back over her mouth.
"But it helps." MOM said before putting it at her bedside, getting up and putting a hand on her chest. "I'm just glad SUNNY slept by me last night, we didn't even notice signs ot your cold getting worse. If he got sick too... No, I shouldn't think that. But, we should definitely be more cautious now, we wouldn't want his poor body getting in any worse condition."
MARI nodded and laid back down, exhaling slowly before looking to MOM. "Is he okay now?"
MOM nodded. "He's downstairs, worried sick about you, no pun intended. It's gonna make him so sad hearing he can't be by you for a bit. You two were so inseparable once he woke up. But, the best thing to do is rest up and get better, honey, okay?"
MARI nodded and slowly closed her eyes, eyebrows twitching as she sucked in through her teeth. "Gaaah! My head..."
"Ohhh, I'm sorry hon, I have to get more pain medicine from OTHERMART. Just hang in there, baby." She pet her head again before glancing at her watch. "Oh shoot! It's just about time for Church. Just sleep well and get better, love you hon!"
As she turned to the door, MARI grabbed her sleeve, coughing before speaking up. "W-Wait, MOM!" As she looked back, she saw MARI breathing heavily, sitting up before looking at her with partly closed eyes. "I... I'm sorry about yesterday... I shouldn't... Shouldn't have yelled at you, or... Or THOMAS. I was just... Just..." She was breathing heavily between words, but looked quite serious despite her condition.
MOM looked worried for a moment before her expression softened, sitting on the side of her bed and holding her close. "Please, don't worry about that. We were all... feeling a lot then. I know how you feel, a-and I'm not saying you shouldn't feel that way. You deserve to, but... Ohh, it's just so complicated. I can explain everything to you when you feel better, okay? Please, just... bare with it for now, please? I'm so sorry to ask this of you, especially now, but I'm sure it will make sense with your DAD soon, okay?"
MARI was too tired to be angry, leaning on MOM and closing her eyes gently. She couldn't muster a response, simply nodding her head as MOM pet her head gently.
After taking her leave, MOM waved goodbye and blew a kiss to her before quietly closing the door. MARI looked up to the ceiling, head twinging with pain as she tried to sleep.
(Ughh... Even if I can't, I for sure need to sleep this off... I don't think CHIVE or MOLI would be asleep either at this time though... Maybe... I should look around for... OTHERS... my...self...)
