You're in bed, rotting the morning away on your phone like you've been doing for at least an hour since the minute you woke up, blowing air out your nose when something funny comes on as you scroll.
You're so happy you get days off before school starts up again. It's perfect; it feels like one of those days where you could just fall back under your covers and be lazy. You really needed this time to yourself after being roomed in with six other people. This is something you love about the school dorms; private rooms, and you could live however you want.
Groowl.
"..."
Your stomach.
Fuck, what time is it?
Your room is blacked out, curtains shut and the fairy lights strewn around the edges of the four walls are off.
It's almost noon. Wow, time sure does fly by.
You get up, tossing the covers off and stretching your arms above your head before picking up a plushie that had fallen during the night.
It's a slow morning - technically afternoon, but whatever. You won't have days like this once classes start. Trying to romanticize it, you go through a cozy routine - staying in your pajamas, sliding into fuzzy slippers, washing your face, brushing your teeth, fixing your hair into something - before you decide to head down to the kitchen, yawning.
You really don't feel like cooking today. Maybe you'll boil an egg into instant ramen. By this hour, the kitchen and tables should be less busy too, so the judgmental risk of being perceived is low.
"Y/N!"
It's Mina saying hello from the couches with a small group of less free-spirited people. Ochako and Tsuyu calmly wave, and so does Iida. You wave back, still going forward towards the quiet kitchen area before Mina bounds up and holds you back for a talk. Her and Ochako are going to the mall. She's asking if you want to go.
You've been out some times with Mina and Ochako. They're close, like super close, both bubbly and outgoing in their own smooth ways so it's hard when your boring self is stuck in the middle between them. Most of the time you feel like your presence is more of a bother to their dynamic, a mood damper.
But you're pretty sure with how many times you've blown off their invites, they're probably some of the people who think you don't want to be with them. You do! You like them. You want to be close with them. You want to look at the sky, smell the grass after it's rained, and be confident that you're in their good hearts. They were both so nice to you at the training camp, and you tried your best to be nice back, so this must be the fruit of your labor - to include you on an invite once again.
And you did still have a couple of things you wanted to get before school started. You're planning on going to the salon that's in the mall tomorrow, but you can get some things crossed off your list now. And what were you going to do today anyway? That's right, finish that new series. It can wait, you suppose, though you were actually looking forward to it because you left off on a cliffhanger.
"You aren't tired from the trip?" You ask. You still feel like you're in limbo, especially now that you're in your usual routine, away from a fantasy forest and back in the boring old real world.
"Nope," she pops her p, "We only have today and tomorrow so I'm trying to fit in as many fun things as possible!"
See, that makes sense. But where does she find the energy to bounce back so fast? You wish you could be more alive like your spunky classmate, if only to have more friends, but you can't pull it off. How funny would you look, bouncing on your feet like she's doing right now in a very bright retro looking purple romper that only she could pull off.
