Despite knowing there was still much to uncover about Avery, Omar was confident in his understanding of his girlfriend. This certainty allowed him to notice the shift in her demeanor.

From the moment they had woken up in her bed, he sensed the awkward tension lingering in the room. Even as she kissed him good morning, he could tell that something was amiss.

It was odd, she wasn't shying away from physical contact, more so she seemed distant and lost in thought. Omar tried to engage her in conversation, but she gave short, vague responses.

As they sat down for breakfast, Avery fidgeted with her food, barely eating. Omar couldn't shake the feeling that something was bothering her.

Although he was itching to get to the bottom of her shift in mood, he decided he was going to give her a little space and time before he started asking questions.

As a means of easing the tension and getting them out of the house, Omar asked Avery to come on his morning jog with him.

Avery hesitated for a moment, then nodded, a faint smile playing on her lips. As they jogged side by side, the cool morning air filled their lungs, and the rhythmic sound of their steps created a comforting backdrop.

Despite the tension easing, the silence between them made Omar feel like there was still a wall between them, and he couldn't allow it to exist any longer.

"Avery, what's going on?" he asked, coming to a stop, making her do the same.

Avery looked down at the ground, her expression troubled. "I... I don't know how to say it," she began slowly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Omar reached out and gently lifted her chin, meeting her eyes with an encouraging gaze. "You can tell me anything, Avery. I'm here for you," he reassured her.

"Omar, I'm terrified," Avery finally confessed, her voice quivering with emotion.

"About what?" Omar asked, his voice laced with concern.

"Your fight is coming up and I'm absolutely terrified," Avery admitted, her eyes filled with worry. "I know how much it means to you, and I'm scared of what could happen. I can't bear the thought of something happening to you," she confessed, her voice breaking with emotion.
