"I want to take you on a date tonight. If things were different, we'd still be in Anguilla right now," Omar murmured against his girlfriend's lips as they lay on his living room couch.
The previous night in Avery's hotel had been intense. They had laid everything out to one another, leaving just two paths before them. Now, Aiden was there, and Omar had become a father. Their only choices were to part ways or to remain together, letting their love lead them forward.
Avery chose the latter. The situation she found herself in was a complicated one, but when she thought about her life without Omar in it, it was a thought she couldn't bear.
She loved him without reservation, without hesitation, and she knew that whatever challenges they faced, they would face them together. The image of a life devoid of Omar's warmth, his laughter, and his unwavering support was something she couldn't fathom.
Omar watched her, his eyes softening with affection and gratitude. "Thank you for choosing us," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "I know it's not easy, but I promise you, we'll make it work."
Avery smiled and placed a tender kiss on his lips. "I'd choose you every time and Aiden is a part of you," she continued, her voice steady and filled with conviction. "To love you is to love him."
Omar pulled her closer, his heart swelling with love and admiration for this incredible woman who had chosen to stand by him despite the complexities of their situation. "We'll find our way," he reassured her.
They lay there for a while, wrapped in each other's arms, enjoying the rare moment of peace and closeness. The weight of their decisions hung in the air, but so did the promise of a future they would build together.
"I packed for a vacation in Anguilla, I don't think I have anything to wear that isn't for the beach," Avery chuckled softly. "Maybe we could stay in, cook something tasty, open a bottle of wine and just enjoy each other's company?"
Omar smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling with affection. "I think that sounds perfect. A quiet night in with you sounds incredible."
"We'd have to go to the store for ingredients," he added, his voice filled with a playful undertone. "Unless you want to make a dinner out of cereal and milk."
Avery laughed, the sound light and musical, easing some of the lingering tension. "Well, as much as I love a good bowl of cereal, I think we can do better than that."
Reluctantly, they untangled themselves from the couch, their hands still finding each other as they moved. It felt like breaking a spell, but the promise of a shared task, a simple grocery run, was a step towards normalcy, towards building a life together.
"What do you feel like having tonight?" Omar asked curiously.
"Hmm," Avery pondered, leaning into his side as they walked to the kitchen. "How about something simple but good? Maybe a lamb dish with rosemary and garlic, some roasted vegetables, and a nice salad?"
