Greyson's POV

I couldn't feel my leg. Fuck I couldn't feel anything.

My eyes were rolling back as a nurse injected something into and then I was knocked out. I couldn't hear or feel anything until now.

My head groggy and my eyes feeling like they have weights on them I struggled to lift my fingers.

I heard a half-sob and then a small hand grab my own. "It's okay. You're okay."

Blinking open my eyes I fought the blaring white light that dizzied above me until I could hone in on the beautiful face next to me.

"Hey." I croaked my voice hoarse and painful.

"Hi." Catherine breathed pushing a cup of water into my mouth. Thankful I swallowed mouthfuls before she placed it back down searching me. "Can you remember anything?"

"Hmm?" I rubbed my head wincing at the pins and needles I felt throughout my body. "Something happen?"

"Oh." She whispered more to herself than me as she looked at the something over her shoulder. A spiking sound was ticking off somewhere around the room that wasn't my own. "One sec."

A minute later a doctor in scrubs hovered above me his face set in a frown. "I'm Doctor Jared. I'm the doctor who performed surgery on you."

"Surgery?" I muttered now frustrated at something I was clearly missing out on. I looked from Catherine's concerned face to my own before trying to sit up.

A sharp pain tore through me and I let out a gasp. "What the fuck."

"Relax. You're in pretty bad shape, solider." The doctor pushed me down by my chest. "You got the better off yourself in that game."

And then it crashed in me.

I felt like I was submerged under water as everything flashed in front of my eyes like the last seven seconds before death.

Cheering.

Football.

Goal.

Pain.

My chest started heaving and the spiking sound started barking now as I looked around cursing. "Fuck. Fuck. Fuck!"

"Greyson." Catherine was held back by the doctor as she looked at me shattered.

"I'll need you to wait outside-"

"But-"

"If you want him to get better you need to let me help him." Wordlessly Catherine walked out the door and a few nurses entered looking at me.

The doctor sighed looking at the monitor next to my bed. "You're scared and anxious. You need to breathe with me on this."

"I'm fine." I blurted. "I can- it's- nothings major right?"

When the doctor didn't answer I hissed, "I can fucking play right?"

His mouth was set thin as he flared his nostrils. "Not for another three months you can't."
