Pin walked along the beach, the waves hitting her feet. She hummed to herself, looking out into the water.

...

She noticed a soft glow under the water.

A bioluminescent creature? In this shallow of water? No way.

She blinked and it was gone. She probably imagined it. It made no sense for a creature like that to be up there. She shook her head to herself.

Pin walked back towards the city, picking some berries for a cake on the way. Yoylecake ways sold well.

--

"A slice of strawberry pie, please!" He asked. "Like I don't already know?" Pin rolled her eyes, jokingly. She got him a slice of pie and slid over the counter. "That'll be $6.50." She told him. "I know, I know." He paid, grabbed a fork, and leaned on the counter. He ate while the two chatted.

"When's your next break?" He questioned. "In less than ten minutes." She replied. "I was going to go to the beach, though." She added. His smile quickly faded. "Oh, come on! You go down there every day!" He cried. "What's even the point of going to the beach for, like, thirty minutes!?" She chuckled a bit. "It's fun!" She responded. He raised an eyebrow. "You wouldn't know, you never come with me!" The thumbtack told him. He scowled. "I'd go with you, but it's not a good idea."

Valid reasoning, he was fire. Going to the beach just meant her would need to be recovered within a few minutes.

"You don't have t-" a roar of thunder cut the girl off. Rain started hammering down on the roof. "Guess you aren't going to the beach." He mumbled. Pin nodded. The other objects in the shop seemed pretty upset. "Guess I'm not going to the beach.. " She muttered, grabbing her phone. "Says it's going to be raining for a while, do you have an umbrella?" She asked him. He shook his head, to which she just blinked at him. "It didn't look like it was going to rain!" He cried.

Rain hit the leafs body and she smiled. She loved the rain. She loved any water. She glanced over at the ocean and she stuck her tongue out. Except the ocean! She hates the ocean!

She was just.. Too good for it! Yes, she was just better!

She grabbed a stick and threw it into the ocean.

She heard a small splash and then saw a bit of light above the water. Somebody? All the way up here? She tilted her head and walked up to the water, her tail dragging behind her. "Who's there?" She hissed, grabbing the stick from the shallow water. The water rippled a bit before someone rushed out of the water.

She paused, slightly startled. Awfully enthusiastic to get out of the water. The object held out their hand, cupping rain drops in it. She turned, clearly on guard, and faced him. He noticed her and put his hands to his sides. His antenna twitched nervously. "I didn't mean to scare you," he put on a small smile. "I'm not scared." The lemon leaf growled. "Okay, my bad." He responded. "I didn't know anyone would be up here.." He mumbled. "There are many people ''up here'' and you should go back." Leafy informed him. "No thanks! And I meant other people from the ocean." He told her. "Why are you here?" She questioned. He tilted his head.

"Oh, well, I thought it would be so cool to just see all the stuff! Like.. Paper! Yeah!" She told her, his tail wagging. She scowled. Idiot. "Well, they don't let you back home if you come up here." She rolled her eyes. "Is that why you're here?" He asked. She pursed her lips. ".. I see." He muttered. "I don't have to answer any of your questions!" She snapped in response, flattening her antenna.

"Why are you still out here by the water?" He questioned. "I mean, if there's more people, why not go talk to them? Or at least get a house.. " he continued. "Sure, go see how they react to a fffish person!" She exclaimed, crossing her arms. He thought for a moment. ".. Would that be considered odd..?" He asked under his breath, at himself. "Do the people here not have tails?" He asked. "Well.. Some of them do.. But they don't glow!" She seered.

"What's your name?" He asked her. She glared at him. "Well, I'm coiny! It's nice to meet you!" I grabbed her hand and shook it. She snatched her hand away. "I hope you catch on fire." She hissed. ".. Great..!"

---------

"Rains easing up.. " pin remarked. Firey nodded. "I can leave soon." He exclaimed. "What, got other friends to talk to?" She poked, smiling smugly. "I have to get groceries!" He explained. "Alright.. " She sighed.

...

The rain stopped and firey turned to her. "Are you still going to the beach later?" He asked her. She nodded. "My next break is in a couple hours." She told him. "I'll see you then?" He shrugged. "Sure, I'll make sure you don't die.. " He left as she gave someone a cheesecake.
