Woo buddy, I have been working on this since the manga ended. Before I continue, this fanfic contains spoilers for the final war arc/ending of My Hero Academia, you have been warned! I have issues with a lot of the character's endings and while overall I did like the ending, if I could I would make some changes. Grounded, this story are those changes. The main inspiration for this fic came to me after listening to 'Blame My Ex' by The Beaches. Please note, I fully intend to show Hawks dealing with the aftermath of the war and losing his quirk. That involves trauma and him acting like an asshole. And a lot of other fix it kind of stuff in regards to the ending. I hope you like it♡

Elle had met Keigo Takami three years ago by chance. She didn't expect someone like him to come onto her. He was beloved and a popular hero before and after the war, and Elle? She was just Elle. Normal, ordinary, plain. Not special at all like he was. She recalled the night they met, it was the first time she thought she had a true connection with someone. Or so she thought.

Her Father had a big role to play in this year's White House State dinner. All For One had been defeated thanks to brave actions of the heroes in Japan, yet many still worried for the state of the world. Everything and everyone felt uneasy, unstable. The United States was determined to help change that. The government had invited countries and their pro heroes to the state dinner this year.

She was so proud of all the hard work her Father had done, she invited her boyfriend of the past two years to accompany her. Only to find out he had been married. She left the dinner quietly, holding back her sobs until she was outside. The secret service that lingered nearby raised eyebrows as she passed, but she waved them off. They didn't need to be chasing or concerned over a girl crying her eyes out over some cheating asshole. Elle moved towards the end of a corridor, she pushed opened the doors feeling the crisp, cool air hitting her face. It was a perfect spot to cry, a quiet outdoor corner of the White House. She thought she was alone as she sat down on the steps leading into the garden. Which garden she wasn't sure, she was just thankful she was alone.

It was too good to be true.

"Why are you crying?" A soft voice came from behind her. Elle nearly doubled over, her hands flying up to cover her mouth.

She whirled around, the ruffles from her dress making a swishing sound. She didn't see anyone, was she imagining things?

"Hello? Is anyone there?" She asked, eyes moving around, nothing.

"Over here," the same voice replied, and the brunette turned toward it.

In the corner stood a figure, just out of range from the light that came from the building. She blinked and opened her mouth to say something, but stopped herself as a light from a cigarette illuminated the figure before her.

Who in their right mind would be smoking near the White House?

Her eyes widened. In the corner smoking was the newly appointed Hero Public Safety Commission President of Japan. Keigo Takami, or better known as Hawks. Popular and beloved, he was the second strongest hero in Japan. He was one of the heroes that fought against All For One in the war several months ago.
