Authors note- there's use of y/n in this chapter yall sorry yk I hate using y/n but it need to be done
"Hello." A voice calls out in my head, snapping me out of my daydream. Looking around the classroom, I try to see the person using legilimency on me in the middle of potions class. "Keep looking around, darling. You won't find out who I am." The voice speaks again, this time I get a better sense of the voice; though it sounds familiar, they're clearly doing something to make it sound kind of distorted. "Don't you worry your pretty head about me sweetheart. You'll find out who I am in time."
Walking out of potions, I keep an eye out to see who could've possibly been talking to me in my head. Even hearing myself say it sounds insane. As I make my way towards the Slytherin common room, I can feel eyes trailing my every step. I quicken my pace and make myself aware of my surroundings; I was the only one in the hallway, to my knowledge. The feeling of being watched was overwhelming as I continue my descend down the multiple staircases leading toward the dungeons.
"Pureblood." I mutter the password and hastily walk in, the eerie feeling of being watched never leaving me behind. I walk towards my dorm and slam the door shut, letting out a breath that I didn't realize I was holding in until now. My sense of peace is gone as quickly as it came as I see a box sitting perfectly on my bed, a box that I definitely had never seen before; I silently cast a spell, levitating the box towards me and opening it cautiously without touching it. Inside is a piece of parchment, which I'm assuming is some type of note, and a ring in the shape of a snake. I take the note out of its box, again, without touching it, and I set down the box with the ring inside as I open the note.
"I see your lack of rings and It bothers me. This is one of my favorites, wear it for me." What the fuck. I'm not sure whether to be scared or intrigued. Scared because who in their right bloody mind stalks and sends someone jewelry without revealing who they are and intrigued because I now know that the person who sent me this is most likely the person who spoke to me during potions and who I felt following me earlier. The ring also tells me they're Slytherin because let's be real, everyone hates Slytherins except Slytherins themselves so why would someone outside of Slytherin have a snake ring and let alone have it be their favorite ring.
For the first time since I've seen the box, I grab it with my hands and run my fingers over the ring. I won't lie, the ring is gorgeous; the snake is wrapped in itself making it the whole ring, the eyes are emerald green and contrast beautifully with the all silver material of the ring. It's also mighty heavy for a ring of its size, making me believe that it's real silver and not some cheap costume accessory.
Not to mention that this said person specified that this was their 'favorite ring' meaning they most likely had a collection. I only know three people in Slytherin the have a very extensive ring collection. Firstly Pansy had a fascination for rings all throughout our first few years at Hogwarts, but I doubt she would be the one sending me something like this. Then there was Blaise but seeing as how he's currently a man whore, I doubt he would go out of his way to try and impress someone with an act like this one. Lastly there's... well there's Malfoy. The man has a collection of rings that goes on and on. His family is also extremely well off. Now that I think of it, he has been in every single one of my classes this term and he always seems to be where I am. Unless it's someone not in my year, I don't know but the thought of some 7th year stalking me doesn't sit right with me.
The Next Day
Sitting in Defense Against the Dark Arts while listening to Snape drill on and on about werewolves. My day dreaming consumes me as I just stare up at my professor with glazed over eyes. "Ms. Y/l/n, what is the answer." Shit. What did he ask. "Wolfsbane." Well here go the voices in my head again "Wolfsbane, sir." I respond, trusting my stalker to not purposefully give me the wrong answers. "Glad to see that you are paying attention." Thank Merlin. "You're welcome, darling. Maybe next time pay attention instead of day dreaming. Also, why aren't you wearing the ring I gave you? I must say I'm insulted." The voice in my head sounding as insane as ever. I purposefully ignore what they said as I try to pay attention for the rest of the lesson.
In my last class of the day, Charms, I try to distract myself from the booming headache that's been forming at the back of my head for three straight classes. As I write the notes that professor Flitwick is going over, a paper crane lands on at my table.
Since I know you can't ignore this like how you ignore our one-sided conversations, please consider wearing the ring I gave you.
xx~ yours
My headache seems to get worse as I read the note. Who does this person think they are to feel that they can even ask me that. I don't even know who they are for merlins sake.
As I walk into the common room, I already feel my stalker watching me. I look around the crowded common room, hoping to find someone who stands out to me but to no avail. Deciding that I don't want to stick around and find out, I walk towards my dorm. The smell of fresh flowers take over my senses as I see a huge bouquet of flowers resting on my bed. When I say huge, I mean over 200 flowers huge. Of course there's a note accompanied with this massive gift.
Forgive me, I'm not very good at expressing my feelings clearly. Im sorry for being so forward with you. Meet me by the library at 6:00 pm, I promise It'll be worth it.
xx~ yours
p.s. I have no right to ask, but can you please wear the ring?
My curiosity got the better of me as I find myself walking towards the library at 5:58 pm with the ring on my right hand. I shouldn't have put it on but I felt some kind of loyalty towards my stalker in a way. Is this Stockholm syndrome? Whatever it is, I know I'm an idiot for doing it. I enter the library and look around for my potential stalker. Being as its the new normal in my life, I feel someone watching me. I sit down at an empty table and mess around with the ring on my finger, waiting impatiently for my admirer to reveal himself.
"Hello, sweet girl. Thank you for coming." A deep voice whispers into my ear. I instantly recognize that voice. Draco Malfoy. I turn and look up at him. "It's been you this whole time?" I whisper in disbelief. "Yes, I'm sorry if I'm not what you expected. I'm also sorry if I scared you in any way. It never was or is my intention. Like I said before, I'm not the best at expressing my feelings." What sounds like guilt overtakes his tone as he sits in the open chair next to me.
Draco grabs the leg of my chair and turns it to where we're facing each other. "I hope you like the flowers I got you. I didn't know how many to get so I just got what felt right. Tulips and your favorite, correct?" His puppy dog eyes look at me with a slightly quivered lip. "They're very beautiful thank you. Yes tulips are my favorite flowers. But I don't want to talk about that right now. I want to know why you didn't just come up to me." My tone is serious as I cross my arms and look at him.
"Well, how do I explain myself without sounding utterly insane. I've always thought you were beautiful, Y/n. Recently something came over me that I could never have you because of who I am. I wanted to be able to have you without you knowing It was me. I guess you could say I was scared that you would reject me." He admits in a soft voice. Not excuse his actions but he's being vulnerable with me by sharing an insecurity he had, most men would not do that.
"If you would've just came up to me like a normal person, this a could've been much faster." I laugh as I aimlessly play with the ring on my finger. "You wore the ring. I'm really happy that you did, it looks beautiful on you." The small smile on his face does something to my heart as he looks up at me, crinkles at the corner of his eyes. "Yeah, it's a really nice ring."
"You're the one that makes it look nice."
"Using flattery to get off the hook?""Is it working?"
"A little bit."
He laughs, a fully belly laugh; it's so contagious that I begin to laugh too. "So, Let's restart then. Hello, I'm Draco, It's nice to meet you. What's your name beautiful?" His smirk takes over his whole face as he looks at me expectantly. "Oh for Merlin's sake. Hello, Draco. I'm Y/n, a pleasure to meet you."
