The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had done it again! They were crowned IPL champions, and Sidharth Shukla’s brilliant performance had been the highlight of the season. The fans were in a frenzy, social media couldn’t stop buzzing about him, and sports pundits were heaping praise on his incredible form. But Sidharth, while honored by all the recognition, had something else on his mind as he sat in the team bus on the way back to the hotel.Shehnaaz.
After weeks of busy schedules and matches, Sidharth couldn’t wait to call her. His nieces and nephew—Ria, Ansh, and Anyra—had been asking him nonstop when Shehnaaz would visit again. They adored her, and, honestly, so did his entire family.
As soon as they got to the hotel, Sidharth pulled out his phone, eager to hear Shehnaaz’s voice.
"Hello, Mr. Golden Boy," Shehnaaz answered before he could even say a word. He could almost hear her smirking.
“Yaar, sab log yeh naam de rahe hain. Tum bhi shuru ho gayi?” Sidharth laughed, leaning back on his bed. “By the way, tujhe pata hai, aaj maine phir match finish kiya with a six? You proud?”
“Proud?” Shehnaaz replied with a teasing lilt. “Haan haan, proud toh hoon, lekin mujhe lagta hai ki usse zyada tumhare selfies aur insta stories se log entertain hote hain.”
“Arre, kyun meri Insta stories ka mazak uda rahi ho?” Sidharth said, pretending to sound hurt.
“Well, wait till you see my new YouTube video,” she said slyly.
Sidharth sat up. “Oh no. What did you do now?”
“It’s a roast of the Indian cricket team, of course. Aur CSK bhi chhoda nahi maine. Tum dekh lo. Just make sure the team is watching with you. Mazza aayega!”
Sidharth’s curiosity piqued. After the post-match celebrations settled down, he gathered his teammates—MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and a few others—around his laptop in the team lounge.
“Chalo, Shehnaaz ne humara roast banaya hai,” Sidharth announced with a grin. The room buzzed with excitement as everyone settled in, ready to see what Shehnaaz had to say.
The video started with Shehnaaz’s bright, smiling face. “Hello, doston! Aaj ka topic hai Indian cricket team, IPL ke champions. Aap logon ko pata hai na, yeh players ground pe jitni mehnat karte hain, usse zyada apne hairstyles aur Instagram posts pe karte hain.”
The first jab landed, and the room erupted in laughter.
She continued, “Chennai Super Kings ka captain, Dhoni sir—wah, kya cool hai yeh banda! Ekdum silent killer type. Lekin kya aapko pata hai, inka secret weapon hai…unke bina expression ke smile. Bina kuch bole hi game khatam kar dete hain!”
MS Dhoni smirked, shaking his head. “Bina bole sab kuch bol diya isne.”
“Waise, CSK ke sabse bade star Sidharth Shukla bhi hai, jo ground pe toh sabka favorite hai, but ghar pe woh favorite kab bante hain jab unki mom unhe samose khila deti hain. Samosa Shukla bolenge ab se.”
“Arey, that’s a good one!” Shikhar Dhawan laughed, clapping Sidharth on the back. Sidharth groaned, “Shehnaaz ko main nahi chhodunga ab!”
Shehnaaz wasn’t done. “Phir aate hain Virat Kohli, aka Cheeku bhaiya. Yeh banda ground pe angry young man hai, lekin agar inka mirror nikal do, toh yeh hairstyle kaise set karega? Aise lagta hai inse zyada time koi hair gel pe nahi lagata.”
The room roared with laughter, Virat shaking his head in mock disbelief. “Cheeku bhaiya! Kya yaar Sid, girlfriend hai ya dushman?”
“I swear I had nothing to do with this!” Sidharth defended himself, grinning.
Shehnaaz then shifted her focus to Shikhar Dhawan, “Aur yeh Shikhar bhai—bina moustache ke inhe dekhne ka soch ke bhi cricket fans ke raaton ki neend udh jaati hai. Inka moustache itna iconic hai ki hum sab expect kar rahe hain, kal ko koi monument banega Shikhar Dhawan ki ‘moochh’ ke naam pe.”
“Wah wah, bahut badiya!” Shikhar laughed, rubbing his iconic moustache as everyone cheered.
“And last but not least, humare superman, Ravindra Jadeja. Inhone toh itne catches le liye hain ki ab ball bhi inhe dekh ke darr jaati hai. Aur Ashwin bhai—ballebaazi ke time pe yeh cricket ke ‘professor’ ban jaate hain. Analysis pe itna dhyaan hota hai ki ball kabhi kabhi confuse ho jaati hai, ‘Yeh match hai ya viva exam?’”
Jadeja burst out laughing, “Professor Ashwin! Yeh toh perfect title hai!”
By the time the video ended, the entire team was in splits. Even MS Dhoni, the cool and composed captain, couldn’t stop laughing. “Yeh ladki full entertainer hai, Sid.”
Sidharth grinned, feeling proud of Shehnaaz’s wit and humor. “Main usse roast karne ka badla zaroor loonga. Just wait till we meet next.”
The fun didn’t stop there. As they lounged around, Sidharth’s phone pinged with a photo. It was from his sister, showing his nieces and nephew—Ria, Ansh, and Anyra—all holding handmade signs saying, “We love you, Uncle Sid!” and “When’s Aunty Shehnaaz coming?”
Virat peeked over his shoulder at the photo. “Arre wah, tumhare niece aur nephew bhi full support mein hain.”
Sidharth smiled warmly, showing the picture to everyone. “They’re obsessed with Shehnaaz. Ria, especially. She’s always asking when Shehnaaz is coming to visit.”
“Arey bhai, lagta hai Shehnaaz ki full-on entry tumhare ghar mein ho gayi hai,” Raina joked, raising his eyebrows.
“Arre, woh toh pehle se hi superstar hai mere ghar mein,” Sidharth replied, still smiling. “Mom, sisters, nieces, nephews—sab uske fan ban chuke hain. Mom ne toh Shehnaaz ko saree suggestions dena bhi shuru kar diya.”
The team laughed, clearly loving the banter between Sidharth and Shehnaaz. Dhoni, with his trademark smile, added, “Waise, tum dono ki chemistry dekh ke lagta hai, IPL ke baad ek aur ‘match’ hone wala hai.”
Sidharth blushed, shaking his head. “Nahi nahi, abhi sirf batting practice chal rahi hai.”
Shikhar added with a grin, “Haan, lekin batting practice toh solid chal rahi hai. Tum dono ka innings kaafi lamba chalega.”
The room filled with laughter again, and as the night wore on, the bond between the team deepened through the shared fun and lighthearted teasing. The jokes, the camaraderie, and Sidharth’s special relationship with Shehnaaz—all of it made the victory even sweeter.
Later that night, as Sidharth lay in bed, he texted Shehnaaz: You totally killed it with the roast. The team’s reactions were priceless. Miss you, Misti.
Shehnaaz replied almost instantly: I miss you too, Golden Boy. Waise, next time I see you, you better bring me some CSK merch. Maybe that’ll make up for the roast. ;)
Sidharth smiled, his heart full. He may have won the IPL, but in his eyes, winning Shehnaaz’s love was his greatest victory of all.
