After the exhilarating win against Australia, the team returned to the hotel, still buzzing with excitement. Sid and Raina were assigned the same room, and after the celebration, they both headed upstairs to freshen up before the management-organized after-party. Raina, as always, was quick to get ready.
“Chal Sid, main neeche chalta hoon. Baaki sab bhi aane wale hain. Tu ready ho jaa, aur aake mujhe bacha lena, agar kisi ne bola ki mere sixes ke badle jo do catches drop kiye woh zyada important the,” Raina joked as he headed out.
Sid grinned, knowing Raina’s playful nature, and went for his shower, letting the hot water wash away the weariness of the day. His thoughts drifted to Shehnaaz. He couldn’t wait to see her. She had promised to be at the event tonight. Once done, he quickly dressed in a black shirt that fit him like a glove, paired with tailored trousers, and headed out.
As soon as he stepped into the hallway, there she was—Shehnaaz. Dressed in a vibrant yellow midi dress, she looked nothing short of a goddess. The dress hugged her curves perfectly, and her glowing face was enough to make anyone lose their mind. Sid stood there, dumbstruck.
“Yeh kya tumhari aankhein tumhare team ke catches ki tarah mujhe ignore kar rahi hain?” Shehnaaz teased, smirking at the way he was staring.
Sid broke into a sheepish smile. "Mujhe laga tha tum match dekh kar thak jaogi, lekin tum toh fresh lag rahi ho, jaise koi champa ka phool ho," he replied, grinning, as he walked toward her.
“Champa ka phool?” Shehnaaz laughed. “Kya Sid, tumhara sense of romance kab upgrade hoga? Mujhe compliment karne aaye ho ya gaon ki shaadi mein gaana bajane wale DJ ho?”
Sid chuckled and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. “Compliment ho ya joke, tum toh dono se khush ho jaati ho. Tumhe dekh kar toh bas dimaag ka CPU hang ho gaya.”
Shehnaaz giggled, resting her hands on his chest. “Accha, tumhe fix karna padega apne CPU ko, warna party miss kar doge.”
Without another word, Sid kissed her. It was soft at first, but soon it deepened, pulling them both into a world where nothing else mattered. For those few moments, it was just the two of them—no cricket, no teammates, no worries—just Sid and Shehnaaz.
As they pulled away, breathless, Shehnaaz grinned mischievously. “Yeh tumhari innings ka acha start tha. Par ab chalo, neeche poori team wait kar rahi hai. Main apni batting mein bhi run chahiye.”
Sid smiled, pressing a quick kiss to her forehead. “Theek hai, lekin tumhare bowling ke liye special practice chahiye,” he winked as they made their way to the event.
The event was lively, with players mingling with their wives and girlfriends. The room was filled with laughter, drinks, and banter. As Sid and Shehnaaz entered, they saw Shehbaaz—her brother—already commanding the room, cracking jokes that had everyone in splits.
“Haan bhai, Australia ke match ke baad ab asli match yahan chal raha hai,” Shehbaaz said, pointing to Virat Kohli, who was trying to explain something to Anushka Sharma. “Virat bhai, aapko lagta hai match tough tha, lekin ghar ka match aur bhi zyada tricky hota hai!”
Anushka playfully swatted at Virat, who grinned. “Sahi pakde hain!” Virat laughed, making everyone else laugh along.
Sid smiled at the scene, but before he could relax, Shehnaaz grabbed his arm and dragged him toward Anushka.
“Anushka! Yaha tumhara dushman mil gaya, dekh lo,” Shehnaaz teased.
Anushka laughed as she hugged Shehnaaz. “Dushman nahi yaar, yeh toh teammate hai. Hamare jokes ka chhota sa part ban gaya hai yeh.”
Virat, overhearing this, groaned. “Bas yaar, tum dono milke hamesha mujhe troll karte ho.”
Shehnaaz laughed. “Tumne khud hi kaha tha, ‘team spirit hona chahiye.’ Hum bas tumhari advice pe amal kar rahe hain.”
Just then, Rohit Sharma joined them, overhearing the conversation. “Waise Virat, tumhe pata hai, yeh dono jab milti hain toh match nahi, pura series plan karti hain.”
Ritika, Rohit’s wife, who was standing nearby, added, “Aur Rohit ko toh sab pata hai. Humare ghar ke har match ka commentary woh hi karta hai.”
Shehnaaz grinned. “Rohit bhai, hum sirf tumhara patience test karte hain. Tumhara patience aur focus dono bhagwaan ka diya hua gift hai.”
Rohit smirked, “Tum log focus pe joke maaro yaa confidence pe, lekin ghar ka asli match Ritika ke sawaalon ko jawab dena hota hai. Bas woh googly se bach jao toh win pakki hai.”
The entire group burst out laughing as Shehnaaz continued her roast spree.
“Waise Raina bhai, maine suna aap aur Shikhar bhai hotel ke towel ko prank ka part banate ho? Team toh aapke towel chhupane se zyada pareshaan hai!”
Shikhar, who had been listening nearby, grinned wickedly, “Arey yeh Raina bhai se sikha hai maine! Towel ka game strong hai humara.”
Raina, trying to play innocent, shrugged. “Main toh sirf technique improve kar raha hoon. Tum log ko towel ke saath bhi handle karna seekhna padega.”
Shehnaaz winked at Sid. “Dekha, Sid? Yeh sab tumhare dushman hain. Tumhe team se zyada inse bachke rehna padega.”
Sid, catching the playful tone, shook his head with a smirk. “Mujhe pata tha tum mujhse yeh kehne wali ho.”
Not to be left behind, Shehbaaz took the mic again. “Waise, main soch raha hoon ki cricket team ke members ke beech ek reality show shuru karwa doon. Kya aap log ‘Bigg Boss: Team India Edition’ mein participate karenge?”
The team roared with laughter as Shehnaaz took over again. "Waise Shehbaaz, tum toh bas maza lete ho. Lekin ek din koi tumhe aise roast karega ki tum sochoge, 'Bigg Boss ka ghar zyada safe tha.'"
Shehbaaz smirked, “Ab tak toh koi nahi mila, Shehnaaz. Tumse bach gaya, yeh hi kaafi hai.”
“Bas ab apni comedy ka stock sambhal ke rakhna, warna Sid se help mangni padegi," Shehnaaz quipped, winking at Sid.
Just then, Shehnaaz spotted Anushka walking toward them with two drinks in hand. “Aur lo, Anushka ka bhi naya plan ready hai,” she teased.
Anushka, overhearing, handed her a drink. “Waise Shehnaaz, agar tum cricket khelne lag jao, toh tumhe opener banaenge. Sabko roaste kar ke opposition ke players ko out kar dogi.”
Virat, pretending to be shocked, added, “Yeh plan dangerous hai, lekin sachhi, effective hoga. Waise tum dono ke PJ itne interesting hote hain ki poori team confuse ho jati hai!”
At this point, Shehnaaz and Anushka both started unleashing their infamous "poor jokes" or PJs, leaving Sid and Virat shaking their heads, laughing, and sometimes cringing at the punchlines.
Shehnaaz: "Why did the scarecrow win an award?" Anushka: "Because he was outstanding in his field!"
Virat blinked. “Yeh kya tha, bhai?”
Sid added, “Yeh humari girlfriend hain ya joke machine? Mujhe lagta hai inse safe distance rakhna padega.”
Anushka laughed, “Tum log hamesha complain karte ho. Humne toh bas start kiya hai!”
Shehnaaz grinned, clearly enjoying every bit of this. "Sid, tum apna wicket isliye safe rakhte ho kyunki tumhe pata hai main doosre end pe hoon.”
With the entire team laughing at their playful banter and jokes, the event went on with even more humor and roasting, making it one of the most memorable nights for the entire team. It wasn't just a celebration of victory, but a celebration of friendship, love, and of course, endless teasing.
As the night wound down, Sid and Shehnaaz slipped out quietly, still laughing at the chaos they had caused, knowing they were the heart of the fun.
