Shehnaaz wasn't just a guest in the Shukla household-she was family. Her understanding of each family member's unique needs, her natural ability to navigate their personalities, and her compassion for their joys and struggles made her an indispensable part of their lives. With Rita and Ashok, Shehnaaz shared a relationship filled with mutual respect. They admired her not only as Sid's love but as a woman of character who had brought a sense of warmth and care to their home.
Rita would often sit with Shehnaaz in the evenings, sharing stories of Sid's childhood, reminiscing about the past, and offering advice for the future. They laughed together over tea, with Shehnaaz always eager to learn more about Sid through his mother's fond anecdotes.
"Sid was such a serious child," Rita said one day, smiling at the memory. "Always focused on his cricket, but when it came to his sisters, Neetu and Preeti, he was like a father figure to them, always protective."
Shehnaaz chuckled, imagining Sid in that role. "He still is so protective, especially of me. But I can see how much he adores his sisters too."
"That's why I know you'll fit right in, Shehnaaz. You already take care of us like you've always been here," Rita said, her voice filled with affection.
With Neetu and Preeti, Shehnaaz had forged a bond that went beyond friendship. They confided in her about everything, from their marriages to their hopes and worries about their children. Neetu would often share her experiences of raising Anyra, while Preeti would chat with Shehnaaz about her twins, Ria and Ansh, who were now adults exploring the world.
"Shehnaaz, you're like the glue holding this house together," Preeti remarked one afternoon as they sat in the garden. "With Sid away, you've become the one we turn to, whether it's for advice or just to talk."
Shehnaaz smiled, grateful for the love she had received from the Shukla family. "You all have been so kind to me. I don't feel like an outsider at all."
"And you never will be," Neetu said, joining them with Anyra by her side. "Even Anyra sees you as her favorite aunt."
Shehnaaz laughed as Anyra ran over and hugged her tightly. "She's my favorite too."
Their bond was so effortless, built on mutual understanding and shared experiences. Shehnaaz had managed to step into Sid's role in the family with grace, becoming the confidant and caretaker they all needed.
Fun and Responsibilities
Despite the responsibilities Shehnaaz had taken on, the Shukla household was filled with fun and laughter. Shehnaaz had a lighthearted side that perfectly balanced her sense of duty. She often organized small gatherings for the family, where they would all cook together or play games, making the grand Shukla mansion feel like a cozy home. One evening, they gathered for a casual family dinner. Ria and Ansh had returned from their internships and were eager to spend time with everyone. Anyra was excitedly running around, begging Shehnaaz to join her in a game of hide-and-seek.
"Come on, Shehnaaz Aunty!" Anyra said, pulling at her hand.
"Alright, alright!" Shehnaaz laughed. "But don't be upset when I win."
As the evening progressed, the house was filled with the sounds of laughter. Shehnaaz played with the kids, helped Rita in the kitchen, and shared stories with Neetu and Preeti. They were a close-knit family, and Shehnaaz had become an integral part of that dynamic.
"You're amazing, Shehnaaz," Preeti said, watching her as she danced with Anyra. "Sid is so lucky to have you."
Shehnaaz blushed. "I think I'm the lucky one. You've all made me feel so welcome."
Sid and Dhoni's Heartfelt Talk
Meanwhile, on the field in New Zealand, Sid had a moment of reflection. After a grueling day of cricket, he found himself sitting with his close friend, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The team had just wrapped up another match, and as they sat together under the stars, Dhoni's phone buzzed with a message. He smiled. "It's Sakshi. She's reminding me about something important."
Sid looked at him curiously. "What's that?"
Dhoni chuckled. "I'm going to be a father soon. Sakshi's due any day now, and I won't be there."
Sid's eyes widened. "That's huge, Mahi Bhai! How are you feeling?"
Dhoni looked thoughtful. "It's a mix of excitement and fear. But I know Sakshi's strong, and I have Shehnaaz by her side, so I'm at peace. I trust them both completely."
The mention of Shehnaaz brought a warm smile to Sid's face. "She's good at that-taking care of people. She's with my family right now, and I can't tell you how much that means to me."
Dhoni nodded, understanding. "That's what it's all about, Sid. Family. When you've found someone like that, someone who becomes part of your world and your family's world, hold onto them. You're a lucky man."
Sid's heart swelled with emotion. He knew Dhoni was right. Shehnaaz had not only become an irreplaceable part of his life but also a cherished member of his family. And when the time was right, he knew he wanted to make that official.
