Persona 5 - The Answer

The Realisation

It's been three weeks since I appeared at Leblanc, and I've hung out with Ren and the Phantom Thieves about every day.

They're actually an interesting bunch, but some of their stories are wild, like turning into mice?

But I believe them, I can just feel it, I know they're not lying.

But it's weird, normally I don't care so much about people. At least I think so, yet I know I care about Sees.

Wait. Sees? I meant the Phantom Thieves. Is Sees what my old group was called?

One thing is for sure, being around See- I mean the Phantom Thieves has helped me with my memory, at least a little.

One person among... "Sees" stands out to me from my memory. Ai-...?

"Makoto, how do you feel about the beach last?"

I'm snapped back into reality.

"Huh? Oh yeah that's good."

Me and Ren have become roommates... well I should say me Ren and Morgana, or Mona.

Our room is quite spacious, but seeing as it's actually an attic it better be, quite different to my days in the dorm... I REMEMBER THE DORM!

"Is everything alright there Makoto?"

"Yeah, I think so, I believe my memories are coming back."

"That's great, what do you remember?"

"I remember... a big fight, and feeling hopeless. I remember a team of people who were like my family, living in a dorm. And... I remember a girl with blonde hair."

"A girl with blond hair? You mean your girlfriend?"

I really hope so.

"I don't know... I want to say yes, but I just can't remember, but I think I love her."

"Wow man, I didn't know you had someone like that."

"Yeah. I'm a little surprised too. Do you have someone like that?"

"Maybe, I don't know... yes?"

"You're as clueless as me!"

We both laughed.

"I mean the girls in my team, I'm quite fond of them all, and if I wanted to I probably could've been dating one right now, but I'm unsure."

Arrogant much? Why do I get it though?

"Well this girl that I love, she was new to my team, but she was closer to me than anyone, and it was after she got severely damaged and couldn't see her for a while I realised how much I cared for her."

It's like my memories come back better when I'm not even trying to remember. When I just let them flow.

"I think I know what you mean, maybe I already know who I like, but I just have to... wait are you remembering?"

"I think so, it's like there's a door to my memories, I just need the key."

That was a weird way to phrase that, like a door.

"Let's call everyone, this is big."

The next day, everyone comes to meet us. Tuesday 4th of October. The moon will be full.

Ren's POV

Me: "I think Makoto is really close to remembering everything."

Ann: "Really? That's great Yuki kun."

Yuki: "Thanks Ann chan, it's thanks to all of you."

Morgana: "Especially me right?"

Yuki: "By the way there's something I need to tell you all."

Morgana: "HEY DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT!"

Yuki: "I'm definitely a persona user, with the same power as Ren.

Makoto: "Same power being?"

Yuki: "I can use multiple personas."

I had suspected as much. I realised pretty quickly that my suspicions about him were way off, I feel bad for doubting him.

Morgana: "I mean we already knew you've been to the metaverse, but you have Joker's power? Really?"

Yuki: "Yeah, but I haven't been to the metaverse. It was something else."

Makoto: "You mean Persona's and shadows can exist in other places too?"

Yuki: "Yeah, I just can't remember what it was though."

Futaba: "There's a chance it was the metaverse and you didn't realise. Besides, someone with Ren's power? That's crazy."

Yusuke: "It's too bad the metaverse nav is gone so we can't even check."

"WOAHH, GUYSSSS LOOK AT THIS"

We all turn to look at Ryuji.

After everything, you'd think I wouldn't be shocked at what I'm seeing... but I am. Ryuji's hand is INSIDE A TV!"

Futaba: "How are you doing that!"

Ryuji: "I don't know! I slipped and my hand just went inside!"

Ann: "Well pull it out!"

Ryuji yanked his hand out of the TV almost hitting Makoto, who just stands unfazed.

Yuki: "Weird."

How does he be so nonchalant all the time?

Me: "Let me try."

Ryuji: "Ren are you crazy!?"

Maybe this is crazy, but I'm curious.

I put my hand on the TV and surprisingly it goes straight in!

And I hear a voice. The same one I heard before I came back to Tokyo. Still faint but more clear.

"Trickster, repeat these words to Makoto Kun..."

I immediately take my hand out the TV and put them on Yuki's shoulders, and whisper in his ear.

"This makes no sense to me, but I need to say this... 'The moment man devoured the fruit of knowledge, he sealed his fate...'"

I hear Yuki make a gasp as I continue.

"'Entrusting his future to the cards, he clings to a dim hope.'"

Makoto clenches his fist.

"'Yes. The...'"

"'Arcana is the means by which all is revealed'" we both say at the same time.

Makoto calms down as I step back.

Yuki: "Nyx, S.E.E.S... Aigis. I remember everything."
