The Unexpected Visitors

Yu's POV

This was unexpected. Never thought Aigis san of all people would invite me here.

"Naoto's already confirmed he hasn't escaped Aigis San."

"You can drop the honorifics, just Aigis is fine. And I know, Yu kun, but you said a part of this 'Izanami' was inside of him too right?."

"You don't need honorifics either, Aigis. And yeah, Ameno-Sagiri, the one who controlled the fog."

"Then Adachi san might be able to tell us something about why the fog is back, Yu."

She makes a good point. Adachi was being questioned for months after he turned himself in, his trial took place a year later, and he got 10-20 years to life in prison. Uncle Dojima and I were there.

We're arriving at his cell now.

"How did you get past the metal detecto-?"

"Not important! Look we're here."

She's clearly embarrassed so I decide to drop it... for now.

Adachi: "Well well well, it's my old buddy Yu kun. Who's the pretty lady? Cheating on Rise are you?"

I'm flabbergasted.

Me: "What? N-no I'm no-."

Adachi laughed.

Adachi: "I'm kidding you little punk, I know you're loyal to a fault."

I'm at a loss for words.

Aigis breaks the silence.

Aigis: "My name is Aigis."

Adachi: "Where have I heard that name from? Oh you're from that infamous Kirijo group Dojima won't shut up about. Involved in some pretty messed up stuff right?"

Aigis seems aggravated.

Me: "That's not why we're here, we have questions for you."

Adachi: "I may have answers... if I feel like it."

Why is he like this?

Aigis: "The fog has returned, do you know why?"

Adachi: "The fog? First time I've heard of it returning, I'm a changed man remember? Accepting the truth of my crimes? Paying the price, whoever is behind this, it isn't me."

Aigis: "You know something."

Adachi: "Look at you, trying so hard. I'm feeling generous today so I'd say that's good enough for now."

Me: "So you do know something?"

Adachi: "Like I keep telling you I didn't do it, and I'm sure you know Namatame didn't do it, so isn't there one person left?"

Aigis: "He and his friends already dealt with Izanami."

Adachi: "I know, 'you're not like me right?' Remember those words? There's still one person left who could've done this remember? That pretty weather girl you're friends with?"

Marie! But she'd never bring the fog back, she hated it more than anyone.

Me: "It can't be, she'd never do that."

Adachi: "Yu kun, you of all people should know sometimes the culprit is the person you least expect."

I need to call Marie, NOW. I run out the prison.

(The next day)

I spent hours trying to call Marie but she won't pick up the phone. It couldn't be.

Oh Shoot! It's almost time to meet everyone at Junes.

"Big bro, are you okay?

"Huh? Oh I'm alright Nanako thanks."

"Hmmm... okay."

"I have to go out now but I'll see you later?"

"Yup!"

The possibility of Marie doing this never entered my mind, she was so against all of this, she even risked her existence trying to get rid of the fog, why would she bring it back?

She's been doing really well as a weather girl, she had offers to move to some of the biggest cities in Japan because of her 100% accuracy, but she chose to stay in Inaba, she was happy. Why would sh-

"Oh! Senpai you're late."

Rise snatched me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry Rise, I just got caught up in my thoughts. And Aigis, I'm sorry I just ran off yesterday."

Aigis: "I understand. You were nervous about what Adachi San said."

Naoto: "Wait. You two went to see Adachi San?"

Aigis: "I asked him to join me, I figured two people going would be better than a crowd, and Yu knew him best."

Naoto: "I see, that's... logical."

Me: "I'm sorry Naoto, I should've asked you guys to come."

Naoto: "No that's quite alright senpai, I probably wouldn't have been up to it yesterday anyway."

She's understanding, even if she's a little upset.

Mitsuru: "Now that we're all here we can begin the infiltration."

Me: "Before we do I need to tell you all something... Marie might be the cause."
