Sunoo woke up to the soft rays of sunlight filtering through his bedroom curtains, but there was no warmth today. The weight of everything that had happened sat heavy on his chest, making it hard to breathe. He stared at his ceiling, unable to shake the feeling of betrayal, the sting of his friends choosing to believe someone else over him. He tried to summon the strength to get up and go to school, but his emotions were still too raw. Not today, he thought, pulling the covers back over his head.

By midday, his mom knocked softly on his door, asking him to run to the convenience store for groceries. He didn't want to leave the house, but he couldn't say no to her. Grabbing his hoodie, he left without much thought, hoping the errand would distract him.

As he walked back with the plastic bag hanging from his hand, Sunoo spotted Sunghoon a little ways down the street. He was walking Gaeul, his dog, and beside him was his little sister, Yeji. Panic bubbled up in Sunoo's chest. Not now. He couldn't face Sunghoon, not with how hurt he still felt. Before Sunghoon could notice him, Sunoo turned and bolted in the opposite direction.

"Sunoo!" Sunghoon's voice called out after him.

Sunoo ignored him, his legs moving faster. He ran through the narrow streets, his heart pounding as he darted into an alley, crouching behind a stack of old boxes. He clasped his hand over his mouth, trying to steady his breathing. The rain began to fall, slowly at first, then harder, soaking his clothes and hair. He could feel the tears threatening to spill, but he didn't want to cry. Not yet.

Footsteps echoed closer, and Sunoo squeezed his eyes shut. He heard the soft tap of raindrops on an umbrella before someone spoke.

"There you are."

Sunghoon stood over him, holding an umbrella, his expression soft but filled with concern.

"Leave me alone," Sunoo muttered, pushing Sunghoon's hand away when he offered it. He didn't want sympathy, not from him.

Sunghoon knelt beside Sunoo, the rain still falling around them. "Why didn't you come to school today?" he asked gently.

Sunoo's eyes flashed with anger. "What, so you guys can attack me again? You believe that witch over me, your best friend of four years?!"

Sunghoon winced at the accusation. His jaw tightened, and guilt clouded his eyes. He reached out, brushing away a tear that Sunoo hadn't even realized had fallen. "I'm sorry, Sunoo," he said quietly. "I feel like something's off about Eunjin too... I should've trusted you sooner."

Sunoo's shoulders shook as more tears came, but he hit Sunghoon's arm weakly. "You're so stupid, Sunghoon. Stupid!" he sobbed, letting the hurt pour out.

Sunghoon pulled Sunoo into a tight hug, patting his back as he whispered soothing words, though nothing could take away the pain of being betrayed. He walked Sunoo home, and though Sunoo was still mad, there was a comfort in knowing Sunghoon believed him now. Sunghoon tried to lighten the mood with a teasing comment, but it didn't land, and Sunoo only gave him a cold glare before heading inside.

The next day, Sunoo finally went to school. But when he walked through the doors, everything felt different. He didn't approach his friends; he couldn't. His heart was still too bruised. Instead, he only spoke to Sunghoon when no one else was around. At lunch, Sunghoon sat with him, leaving the others behind with Eunjin.

Later, in the library, Sunghoon was doing calligraphy when Eunjin appeared, sitting beside him with a bright smile. She started talking and laughing, but Sunoo, who had come to the library to talk to Sunghoon, froze when he saw them together. A familiar ache twisted in his chest.

Of course, he still likes her, Sunoo thought bitterly. He turned to leave before the jealousy overwhelmed him, but Sunghoon's voice stopped him.

"Oh my God, you keep yapping! You're like a noisy mosquito buzzing all over my ears."

Eunjin's expression faltered, and she looked at Sunghoon with wide, tearful eyes. "I'm sorry... I didn't know I was bothering you," she said, her voice shaky as if she was about to cry.

"Now you know. So scram," Sunghoon said bluntly.

Eunjin's face twisted with frustration, though she quickly masked it. "Did... did Sunoo tell you something about me?" she asked softly, trying to manipulate the situation again. Sunoo could feel the anger rising in his chest.

Before he could step forward to defend himself, Sunghoon snapped. He grabbed his ink pot, pouring it all over his calligraphy paper, the black ink spilling across the page. "I can't focus on what I'm doing because of your noisy ass," he growled.

He crumpled the ruined paper and tossed it at her. "And keep Sunoo's name out of your lying mouth."

Eunjin gasped, her tears flowing freely now, but it didn't move Sunghoon one bit. She stood, trembling, before running out of the library, sobbing.

Sunoo stepped out from behind the bookshelf, a small, sly smile tugging at his lips. "How long were you there?" Sunghoon asked, grinning.

"Long enough to believe you," Sunoo replied with a chuckle.

Just then, the others arrived. Heeseung, Jungwon, Jake, and Jay all looked confused as they approached Sunghoon.

"What was that all about?" Heeseung asked, his brow furrowed.

Sunghoon scoffed, shrugging his shoulders. "And I'd do it again."

Eunjin's sobs echoed faintly from down the hall, but Sunghoon was unfazed.

"What's up with you?" Heeseung demanded, his voice rising with visible anger.

Sunghoon just smirked and turned to Sunoo. "Y'all better get your act together," he said over his shoulder as he grabbed Sunoo by the wrist and led him out of the library.

Sunoo glanced back at the others, but as Sunghoon pulled him along, he felt a strange sense of satisfaction bloom in his chest. Maybe, just maybe, things were going to turn around.
