It was the beginning of their senior year in high school when the seven boys decided to move into a dorm together. With graduation on the horizon, they thought it would be easier to focus on their studies and maintain their close bond by living together. The transition was smooth at first. Sharing a space made it easier for them to navigate their hectic schedules, balancing school and their personal lives, but recently, things had started to shift.
Their once unbreakable friendship had become tense. Ever since the falling out with Sunoo, the atmosphere in the dorm had changed. Sunoo had forgiven them, or at least, that's what he'd said, but the lightness in their friendship wasn't there anymore. He still hung out with them, but everyone could feel the distance. The laughter wasn't the same, and Sunoo's once-cheerful energy seemed muted.
The weight of what had happened hung over them, and the boys knew they needed to do something to fix it.
Jake was the first to speak up about it one evening as they all sat around the living room. "We need to make it up to Sunoo," he muttered, leaning back against the couch. His voice was heavy with guilt. "We hurt him, and even though he says he's fine, we all know he's not."
Everyone nodded in agreement. They had been living together for months now, but the harmony they once had felt strained. Sunoo's bright personality had dimmed, and while he was still around, it was clear that something inside him had changed. The unspoken divide made it harder to enjoy the usual hangouts, and no one could deny it.
"We can't just keep pretending everything's fine," Sunghoon added, his brows furrowed in concern. "We need to do something bigger than just saying sorry."
Jay, usually the calm and level-headed one, agreed. "What if we throw him a party? Something to show how serious we are about making things right. It's more than just saying sorry-we need to show him."
The idea took hold quickly. An apology party-it felt like the best way to express how much they regretted what had happened. Jungwon added, "And we should each write him a letter. Something personal, so he knows how much he means to all of us."
Ni-ki, though typically quiet during these types of emotional discussions, chimed in, "We can't let it just be a fun night. We need to make sure he feels how serious we are."
The boys spent the next few days planning everything. They decorated the living room of their dorm, transforming it into a warm, inviting space that would make Sunoo feel appreciated. Jake suggested they bake cookies, though it was Jay who ended up taking the lead in the kitchen. As the night approached, they each wrote their letters, pouring their thoughts and apologies onto paper. They were nervous, unsure of how Sunoo would react, but they knew they had to try.
When the evening arrived, everything was set. The living room was lit with soft fairy lights, and the boys were buzzing with nervous energy as they waited for Sunoo to join them. They'd told him it was just a casual hangout, but the setup made it clear that this was something more.
Sunoo entered the room, his eyes widening in surprise at the sight of the decorations. "What's all this?" he asked, glancing around at the room, his gaze lingering on the snacks, lights, and the chair placed in the middle of the room just for him.
Jungwon stepped forward, his voice soft but steady. "It's for you, Sunoo. We wanted to do something to show how sorry we are. We messed up, and we've been trying to act like everything's fine, but it's not. We know that."
Jake followed, holding out an envelope. "We wrote you letters. You don't have to read them right now, but... we wanted you to know how much we regret what happened."
Sunoo took the envelope from Jake, his fingers trembling slightly as he looked around at the others. The sincerity in their eyes was unmistakable. He could feel how much thought and effort they had put into this, and for the first time in weeks, he was genuinely moved.
