**POV:** Maya

The council chamber is cold, a stark contrast to the warmth of the nursery where I left Fenrir in the care of the nursemaid. I stand beside Loki, my gaze steady as the Asgardian council stares back at us. Their eyes are wary, filled with a mixture of distrust and fear, not just of Loki but of the life we are raising.

"Your son is growing," Odin begins, his voice echoing through the chamber. "And with his growth comes concerns—concerns for the safety of Asgard."

Loki steps forward, his face a mask of calm. "Concerns that are unfounded," he replies smoothly. "Fenrir is a child. He poses no threat to anyone."

"And yet, he is your child," one of the council members retorts. "Born of your blood and magic."

I feel a flicker of anger at their words. How dare they speak of my son this way? "He is also my son," I say, my voice firm. "I am here to ensure that he grows up with love and guidance. He is not some monster."

Loki places a hand on my arm, a gentle yet firm gesture to calm me. "Maya," he murmurs, his eyes meeting mine briefly before he turns back to the council. "We understand your concerns, but they are misplaced. Fenrir is a symbol of a new era—an era of peace between realms."

Odin's gaze narrows. "You speak of peace, Loki, but your history tells another tale."

"And histories can change," Loki counters, his voice smooth as silk. "I have changed. For my family, for our future."

There is a murmur among the council members, and I can feel the tension in the room. They do not trust him. They do not trust us. But they do not know what we have been through, what we have sacrificed to get here.

"We are not here to debate the past," I say, stepping forward. "We are here to talk about the future—our son's future. He is innocent in all of this. His only crime is being born to parents who wish to protect him."

A council member, Frigga, speaks up, her tone gentler than the others. "Maya, you must understand the council's concern. Fenrir possesses a power that none of us fully understand. A power that, if not guided correctly, could lead to devastation."

"Which is why we are guiding him," Loki interjects. "We are his parents. It is our duty to ensure he grows into his power with wisdom and restraint."

Odin's gaze turns icy. "And yet, Loki, we have seen how you wield power. What assurance do we have that you will not shape him into a weapon?"

Loki's eyes darken, but his voice remains composed. "Because I have already chosen a different path. I chose to build a future with Maya, to raise our son with love, not with the hatred that once consumed me."

I place a hand on Loki's arm, feeling the tension there. "Fenrir is not just Loki's son," I say, my voice calm yet firm. "He is my son as well. And I will not allow anyone to turn him into something he is not. He will be what he chooses to be, guided by our love."

There is a silence in the room, a silence heavy with the weight of our words. The council members exchange glances, uncertainty flickering in their eyes.

"And what if his choice is to embrace the darkness within him?" Odin asks, his tone cold and unyielding.

"Then it will be our duty to guide him back to the light," I answer without hesitation. "Because that is what parents do. They guide their children, they protect them, and they love them unconditionally."

Loki squeezes my arm gently, a gesture of support. "Maya speaks the truth. We are not here to conquer, to instill fear. We are here to build a future where our son can grow up free from the shadows of our past."

The council falls into murmured debate, and I feel my heart pound in my chest. This is not just a discussion about Fenrir; it's a trial for our family, a test of our right to carve out a place for ourselves in this world.

"We will give you our word," Loki continues, his voice commanding yet calm. "We will ensure that Fenrir is raised with the values of peace and restraint. He will not be a threat to Asgard or any realm."

Odin leans back in his seat, his expression unreadable. "Your word, Loki, has been broken before."

Loki doesn't flinch. "This time, it will not be," he says simply.

I take a step forward, my voice breaking the silence. "Fenrir is not just a product of Loki's past or his power. He is a product of our love, of our hope for a future that is different from the one you all fear." I look at each of them, letting my gaze linger on Odin. "Judge him not for who his parents are, but for who he will become."

Frigga watches us with an expression that is almost sympathetic. "You ask a great deal of us, Maya," she says quietly. "But we cannot ignore the potential danger."

"Nor should you," Loki replies. "But fear should not dictate our actions. We should lead with wisdom, not with the ghosts of the past."

Odin's eyes are piercing as they bore into mine. "You truly believe this child is the key to peace?"

"I believe he is the key to a future where we are not defined by our past," I answer. "Where he can be more than what you fear he might become."

The council falls silent again, and I feel Loki's hand tighten around mine. He is with me in this, his presence a solid rock in the midst of the storm of judgment that surrounds us.

Finally, Odin speaks. "We will allow the child to remain in Asgard," he declares. "But understand this, Loki and Maya: we will be watching. If he shows any sign of becoming a threat, we will act to protect this realm."

Loki inclines his head, his expression carefully neutral. "As is your right. And we will do everything in our power to ensure that such measures are never necessary."

Odin nods, a subtle dismissal. The council session is over, but the tension lingers as Loki and I turn to leave. As we walk out of the chamber, I feel a surge of relief mixed with lingering unease. They are allowing us to stay, but they do not trust us. They do not trust our son.

"We did it," I whisper to Loki as we exit into the corridor.

He looks at me, a faint smile on his lips. "We did," he agrees. "But this is only the beginning. They will watch us closely, waiting for any excuse to act."

I nod, my heart heavy. "We'll show them," I say determinedly. "We'll show them that Fenrir is not what they fear. That he is more than what they think."

Loki's gaze softens as he reaches out to cup my cheek. "You have always seen the best in everything," he murmurs. "It's one of the reasons I love you."

I lean into his touch, feeling a wave of warmth wash over me. "And I love you," I reply. "For all that you are, for all that we are together."

He kisses me softly, his lips warm against mine. In this moment, I feel the bond between us, the unbreakable connection that has brought us to this point. I believe in him, in us, and in the future we are building for our son.

As we pull away, he looks at me with a seriousness that sends a shiver down my spine. "We must be careful, Maya," he says quietly. "The council's eyes are on us. We cannot afford to make a single mistake."

I nod, my resolve hardening. "We won't. We'll do whatever it takes to protect our family."

He smiles, but there is a glint in his eyes that I cannot quite place. "Yes," he agrees. "Whatever it takes."

We walk away together, hand in hand, leaving the council chamber behind. The path ahead is uncertain, filled with shadows and doubt. But with Loki by my side, I know we can face it. We will protect our son, no matter the cost.
