**POV:** Maya
The sanctuary Loki created for us on the outskirts of the Asgardian palace is serene, a place of solitude and beauty far removed from the prying eyes of the court. It is our haven, where Fenrir can grow up away from the judgment that hovers over him like a storm cloud. Loki stands at the edge of the garden, cradling our six-month-old son in his arms. The evening light casts a warm glow over them, and for a moment, I am lost in the sight of them together. This is our life, our family.
"Loki," I call softly as I approach. He turns to face me, his gaze softened by an expression that I have come to cherish. He always has a way of making everything feel calm, controlled.
"Maya," he replies, his voice a murmur. "Look at him. Our little prince is growing so quickly."
I smile, reaching out to brush my fingers across Fenrir's cheek. He giggles, a sound that warms my heart like nothing else. "He has your eyes," I say, my voice filled with affection.
"And your strength," Loki adds, his eyes meeting mine. "He will be the best of both of us."
I nod, feeling a swell of emotion that I can't quite put into words. "You know, sometimes I still can't believe this is real. That we have this life, this family."
Loki's expression turns serious, and he shifts Fenrir in his arms to face me more fully. "It is real, Maya. We've built this. And we will protect it against anyone who dares to challenge our place."
I look into his eyes, feeling the intensity of his words. There is a fire in him, a determination that both reassures and frightens me. "I know," I whisper. "I know we will."
He leans in, pressing a kiss to my forehead. "We must always be vigilant," he murmurs against my skin. "Asgard watches us, waiting for us to falter. But we won't. Not if we stay united."
I pull back slightly to meet his gaze. "I trust you, Loki. I always have."
He gives me a small smile, one that doesn't quite reach his eyes. "And I you, my love. Together, we are unbreakable."
Fenrir stirs in his arms, and Loki shifts his attention back to our son. "He needs to be strong, Maya. Stronger than any child of Asgard."
"Is that why you've been training him so intensely?" I ask, a hint of concern in my voice. "He's still so young."
Loki's eyes harden for a moment before he softens them again. "It's for his protection, for ours. You know the council watches every move we make. They see him as a potential threat. We must ensure he is prepared for whatever challenges lie ahead."
I sigh, running a hand through my hair. "I know. It's just... sometimes I wish we could have a normal life. Without all the expectations, the judgments."
He steps closer, his free hand cupping my cheek. "Normal is not a luxury we can afford," he says gently. "We are different, Maya. And that difference is what makes us powerful. We cannot hide from it."
I nod, leaning into his touch. "I understand. I just... I want him to have a childhood. To feel loved, not like he's always preparing for some battle."
"He will feel loved," Loki assures me, his tone softening. "Because we love him. And that is the most powerful shield we can give him."
I look down at Fenrir, his eyes wide and curious as he gazes up at us. He is so innocent, so unaware of the weight he carries simply by being our son. "He will grow up knowing that he is cherished," I say firmly. "And that he is not alone."
"Never alone," Loki agrees, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. "He has us. Always."
We stand there in silence for a moment, just the three of us. The world outside our sanctuary feels distant, its pressures and expectations muted by the love we share in this space.
Loki finally breaks the silence. "I have something to show you," he says, his voice taking on a lighter tone. "I've been working on it for Fenrir."
He leads me into a room off the main hallway, one that he had kept closed for months. As he pushes the door open, my breath catches. The room is transformed into a haven for our son. The walls are painted with scenes of stars and galaxies, a reflection of the stories Loki tells Fenrir each night.
"It's beautiful," I whisper, stepping inside. "Did you do this for him?"
"Yes," Loki replies, his voice soft. "He is our little prince, after all. He deserves to have a place where he can dream, where he can feel safe."
I turn to face him, tears stinging my eyes. "You always know what he needs, what we need."
He moves toward me, setting Fenrir down on a soft blanket before taking my hands in his. "I know what we need because I know you, Maya. I know what drives you, what keeps you awake at night." He squeezes my hands. "And I know that as long as we have each other, we can face anything."
I swallow, feeling the emotion well up inside me. "I love you," I say, my voice trembling slightly. "More than anything."
"And I love you," he replies, pulling me into an embrace. "You and Fenrir are my everything."
I close my eyes, sinking into the warmth of his arms. In moments like this, I forget the outside world, forget the judgment and the whispers. Here, in this sanctuary, it is just us. Just our family.
After a moment, he pulls back, his eyes searching mine. "I know it's not easy, Maya," he says quietly. "Raising him in the shadow of all that surrounds us. But we will make it through. Because we are strong."
I nod, wiping away a tear. "We are strong," I echo. "And we will make sure he is, too."
Loki smiles, that rare, genuine smile that he only shows when it's just the three of us. "Exactly." He looks down at Fenrir, who is now gurgling happily on the blanket. "He will grow up knowing that his parents fought for his future. That we stood against everything to give him this life."
I follow his gaze, my heart swelling with love and determination. "He will know that he is loved," I say softly. "And that love is the most powerful thing of all."
Loki nods, wrapping his arm around me once more as we watch Fenrir play. "Yes," he agrees. "Love is power. And with it, we will shape his future."
We stand there together, a family bound by love and something deeper, something unspoken. The world outside our sanctuary may be filled with uncertainty, but in this moment, we are complete. We are exactly where we need to be.
