"You know last time I checked, best friends dont ignore each other." Darci speaks through the phone, the second I answer her call. She tried to contact me the last four days and I've been so busy getting settled, I never called her back. Im a bad friend.
"Good afternoon to you too, Darc." I grin. I miss her and her witty remarkes.
"Don't try and sweet talk me Maison Mae. Where have you been! You just disappeared!" She screams. I wince, and take the phone away from my ear, before she blows my eardrums out. I place it on speaker phone before continuing to spray the kitchen counter off. I grab the sponge and wring it out.
"I know, I know. Im sorry Darci. It's been a mess since I got here, and since I had to pick up peaches, and ugh." I scrub the stuck on piece of ... what is this, eggs? I gag and continue my scrubbing.
"You know I actually almost held that baby hostage... You don't get him if you forget about me. Don't forget I'm the one who got you him." She threatens, the lie clear as day in her voice. I grin.
Shes right, she did get me Peaches. My 21st birthday to be exact. I had moved out on my own, and when we were unpacking at my apartment, she mentioned I needed some company, now that we were no longer roommates. The following week on my birthday, a ginger cat jumped out of a small pink coach bag she had also gotten me.
"And I'm very thankful you sent him my way. He made me remember you existed." I tease.
A gasp leaves her lips as she takes in what I said. A lie, but funny nonetheless.
"And you still didn't call me?!" She grumbles. A chorus of giggles comes between us as she laughs her rich deep laughter through the phone. I can see her smile in my head.
"Speaking of babies, hows Felix?" I ask. I wipe the now clean counter off with a towel, drying it. I place the empty glass vase back where it was. I really need to get flowers for that.
