"Ah, River West!" A man suddenly appears in front of me and River. Now back at the banquet, another glass of sparkling liquid in our hands, River pulls me into his side.
His hand remains on my hips, while my back touches his front. His grip is tight on me as he stares at the man in front of us.
"It's a pleasure to see youve made it. And who might this beautiful brunette on your arm be?" The man holds out a hand, and I reach out, placing my hand into his. His grip is tight as he shakes my hand slowly, his eyes trailing my body.
I take notice of where his eyes pause, the cleavage on my chest distracting him for a moment.
I pry my hand away.
I don't bother to speak up and say my name, letting River handle the conversation.
This guy gives me the creeps.
"This is my date, Maison." His tone is blunt once more, and slightly scary. I sip on my champagne.
"I see... its a pleasure." I nod in return, forcing a small fake smile onto my lips. I dig myself deeper into Rivers arms as the man returns his eyes to my roomate.
"What can I do for you tonight Ellis?" River questions.
The man chuckles.
"Just coming to say hi to an old friend-"
"Yes. Old. We are no longer acquaintances."
The tension suddenly grows thick, and its almost as if everyone in the room is silently watching the two speak. The men before me glare at each other, a silent conversation sitting between them with just their eyes.
