Wonyoung waited for me outside of the classroom while I was talking with Mr. Jenson.

"What was that all about?" she asked me while she walked to my next class.

"He told me I couldn't keep my hair." I subconsciously raked my fingers through it. I was going to miss my blue highlights.

"Hate to say it, but I warned you." she frowned. "Blue is so pretty on you, but I'm sure a little color change wouldn't hurt. I think blonde would really suit you." she encouraged. Even though I haven't known Wonyoung for long, I always recognize and acknowledge her efforts to try and make me feel better in any situation.

I mustered up a laugh. "Yeah, maybe. I'll re-dye it tonight, I guess."

She smiled delightfully, and we had made it to 2nd period.

Somehow, I had successfully managed to get through 1st-5th period without losing my mind, although I really felt like I was about to.

I could feel myself slowly going crazy in 5th period because it was our longest class of the day, but luckily, lunch followed right after. It was agonizing, especially when my stomach was screaming at me and I could barely keep myself awake.

Wonyoung walked with me to the cafeteria, where all the students were ushering in to grab lunch after such a long day.

She led me to the back of the cafeteria, where her and Tessa had their own little designated area at a long table. There were at least a dozen kids sitting there.

"Is this where you sit?" I asked her, setting my stuff down by the open seat.

"Yup!" she replied. "At least when Yujin doesn't abandon me." she laughed, but I couldn't laugh with her. I feel bad for her. She's such a sweet, perfect friend. I don't understand who would want to leave her behind.

"I'm gonna hop in the lunch line. They have dumplings today, so it's gonna get crowded pretty quickly." she informed me, and I nodded, even though I was still processing the fact that she said the cafeteria was serving dumplings. Monterey had a limited choice of pizza that could barely hold itself together, bland hot dogs, a processed sandwich from a package, or dry chicken nuggets if you're lucky.

"I'll get in with you, then." I smiled. She grabbed my hand and pulled me up from my seat, and we weaved through the crowd to get to the lunch line.
