The blare of my phone alarm jolted me awake. The ringing pounded through my head.
I felt around the sheets for my phone, and successfully turned it off.
My body didn't feel tired. I had never felt more awake. I was in utter disbelief from the dream I just had.
Even though I was completely conscious, I couldn't bring myself to get up from the bed. I was glued in place, my mind running through all the events that had occurred in my dream.
I knew I should've never texted Hyunjin before bed. The idea of him was trapped in my mind, and it followed me to my dreams.
Suddenly, Brooke approached my bedside, clapping her hands loudly.
"Come on princess, let's get up." she urged me, yanking the heavy blanket off of me.
I immediately sat up and threw the comforter back over my lap.
"Shit." I swore, my hand automatically flying to cover my mouth, expecting a couple words of disapproval or a reminder to watch my language, but this time I heard nothing.
"What's wrong?" she stared at me blankly.
My shorts were damp. And not by water.
"Nothing. Just let me get up by myself, please." I cleared my throat, shooing her away. When she didn't listen, I gently pushed her arm. "Please."
"Yeah, okay." she finally left me alone and entered the bathroom, sliding the door closed behind her.
I had never had a dream like that before. And I've certainly never been...stimulated by one.
In the time Brooke was occupied in the bathroom, I decided to quickly open my suitcase and grab a fresh pair of underwear and shorts to change into, so I could enter the bathroom safely.
Once I had changed, I went over to the bathroom and knocked gently for permission to enter. Brooke quickly opened the door for me, an electric toothbrush humming between her lips.
"Did you change your pants?" she laughed confusedly through a mouthful of toothpaste.
"You noticed?" I absent-mindedly asked her, occupied with scattering all of my toiletries across the counter space.
She laughed at me. "I'm not stupid, Verity."
"Right. Yeah, I forgot." I mumbled quietly, my mind too crowded with second-day-of-school anxieties.
More importantly, why I had such a stupid dream, and how awkward it would be if I ran into Hyunjin.
Brooke raised her brow at me in the reflection of the wide mirror, evidently assessing what the cause of my uneasiness could be. However, she didn't pry. I internally thanked her.
