Short Bio:
Sam Barker is a senior in high school and the lead character of Somniphobia. He is very smart and quiet. He's not exactly popular in school, and sometimes gets mocked, especially by his "friend," Jules.

Sam appears in the first story of this book. In this story, Sam and his friends are at the Mega PizzaPlex for Raad's birthday, and they all try to win the MoonDrop Dream Sphere. They manage to win it and take it home. Their intentions with it is so it can help them study. The Moon Sphere makes people fall asleep and then wake up in a whole new world, it's like a hologram hallucination of some sort. The group decides to trade every week. Sam gets is first. When Sam uses it another time, he starts to have dreams of his dad, who passed away. Everything he dreams feels very real in the dream sphere. Because of this, he keeps using the sphere so he can keep having the dreams of his dad. Jules starts to get mad because he won't share it, but Sam says he still has the whole week to use it. As time goes on, it seems Sam becomes more aggressive, and so he decides to take a break from the sphere and trade it. He goes to Raad's house but he's not home, since that day, Sam took a break from school too, and Raad is still at school. Sam waits for him to come home but can't resist using the sphere one last time. He uses it again and is at prom with his crush. His dad is there too. Everything seems perfect. Throughout the book, Sam uses a timer to help him wake up. He set the timer once again in the end at Raad's house but it doesn't wake him up that time. Raad's dog, Brutus comes in to find Sam unconcious and he eats off his face. Sam is unaware from this. He feels strange so, in the dream, he goes to the bathroom. Moondrop opens the door to it while he's in there and tells him to follow him, and Sam does.
