Chapter Seventeen: Alabasta

After the initial shock of finding out that the flamboyant man they thought would be their new friend was none other than Mr 2 the Strawhats had come up with a plan to counter his devil fruit ability.

A few hours later the crew found themselves starving even more. Almost all the boys lay flat on the Merry's floorboards like starfish. Nami looked at the logpose on her wrist before looking into the horizon. "We're almost there." Luffy let out a tired cheer,most of his energy depleted.

"Y/n, don't you have anymore food left in that beg of yours?"

"You ate that all too, Luffy."Y/n stood on deck with Chopper in her arms, holding the reindeer to her chest like a baby. Sanji was internally crying at the sight.

"And he still has the audacity to ask for more." Ussop said, his arms crossed and giving Luffy a judgemental look. Y/n likened him to look like one of those disappointed housewives.

Zoro quirked an eyebrow"Last I checked you ate some of that food too,"

"Mm, Ussop." Nami joined in," You're not innocent either." Joined in with a smirk.

"Karoo did too y'know!"

The said bird was hiding behind Vivu, trying to seem like he wasn't paying attention to the conversation. Vivi's eyes drifted to Karoo , her has placed on either side of her hips. "Karoo!"

Soon the conversation had ceased, everyone watching the waves as they crashed against each other. No seagulls had graced the sky, just plain blue. The wind moved the sails of the Going Merry.

Luffy lifted his head from the floor like a zombie and looked at Chopper with his mouth watering. "Foood."before he could stand up Y/n grabbed a white rock nearby and threw it at Luffy, successfully knocking some sense into him.

Vivi's eyes widened," OH MY-Y/N?!"
No one else seemed to be fazed by their captain being hit with a large rock.

"Eating crewmates is strictly forbidden." She said . Her ears caught a grating sound and she turned and caught sight of Sanji sharpening his cooking knives in the kitchen, a dark look in his eyes.

"Yes Y/n, my love." The cook said, his sharp knives till out. His voice had gone gravely,"No crewmates..." Kinda creepy...

Karoo felt menacing aura behind him and immediately ran to stand behind Y/n for cover, Vivi looked at the interactions in concern while her mind still multitasked to keep her worried. This time it wasn't about the civil war alone but also what it could !ran for everyone if the officer agents were headed to Alabasta as well.

The water around them began to ripple, Y/n's senses being interrupted bybthebsudden shift the Merry was going through.

Everyone on board looked at Y/n. She looked at them. A comical silence

"Well?" Zoro did, holding onto the railing as the ship begun to move up and down.

"What?" Everyone facepalmed at her reaction.

"Y/N!!!!"

"We're not gonna die if that's what your asking."

She shrugged, still holding Chopper in her arms. Zoro was on the brink of grabbing her by the collar and shaking her to knock some sense into her but Nami beat him before he could do any thing.

"TELL US WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!"

The situation spoke for itself. Towering above them was a large creature. It's eyes cat-like and piercing, claws out for the kill, scales slimy and menacingly sharp canines.

It let out a frightful sound, one that could drive every pirate and marine to fear.

"MEOOOOOOWWWWW!!!" but to them it sounded like a t-rex or something. ( Disclaimer: The narrator doesn't know how to make a large cat sound frightening, apologies.)
