By the time Koga found Inuyasha, his heart shattered at the scene before him. Inuyasha was leaned up against a tree, his knees curled to his chest, and his head buried in his arms. By the way his body was convulsing ever so slightly, Koga knew he was crying.
He slowly walked over, sliding down to a seated position next to Inuyasha. This startled the boy a bit, causing him to look up, but he quickly looked away when he saw who was sitting next to him.
"Inu-" Koga started, only to be cut off by Inuyasha.
"You want to break up, don't you?" He asked, wiping some tears from his eyes.
Koga quickly and instinctively wrapped his arms around Inuyasha, pulling the boy into a hug.
"Of course not, never in a million years. I just want answers. I want to know what happened to put tears all over your beautiful face," Koga said, overjoyed and relived when he felt Inuyasha hug him back. He rubbed the boys back, allowing him to cry out whatever he needed to before they talked. "I'm here, Inu, and I'm never leaving you."
Shortly after Inuyasha's tears died down, Sango rushed over with Kirara, who soon jumped from her arms and into Inuyasha's. Kirara was always good at cuddling those who needed it, and Inuyasha really liked her anyway.
He chuckled, wiping tears from his eyes before petting her. "Hey, Kirara," he said, leaning against Koga for the added comfort. He usually didn't like cuddling with Koga in front of other people, but he felt like Koga wouldn't let him go right now anyway. Not like he really minded anyway; he really liked it when Koga held him.
Sango sat across from them, Miroku joining shortly after. They all wanted an explanation from Inuyasha, which he was hesitant to provide, but did it anyway.
"For the longest time at my old school, I had a girlfriend. Her name was Kikyō. She was probably my best friend, helped me through stuff when my parents died and other stuff. But when I reached sophomore year of high school, things took a little turn. There was a robbery not too far from the school, and a rumor spread that it was me. No clue how it started. Thankfully, Kikyō didn't believe it, but that didn't mean the other kids didn't. I sort of became an outcast."
Inuyasha took a breath, knowing that this was where the story was going to take a turn for the uncomfortable. Thankfully, Koga held his hand throughout the whole thing.
"For some context, my school had an archery team. Kikyō convinced me to join since she was the captain. Most of the kids there hated me and thought I was some crook who needed to be brought to justice or some shit, so they wanted to make me look like an idiot in front of Kikyō. When it was my turn to shoot, they purposefully shot at me to make me mess up. Kikyō tried to stop them and... a stray arrow hit her. I'm not even sure if it was mine or not, but it doesn't matter. It... killed her."
Sango gasped and placed a hand over her mouth. Miroku did his best to maintain his composure, not wanting Inuyasha to think that he was looking at him with pity. Koga rubbed the back of Inuyasha's hand with his thumb, kissing the side of his head. Inuyasha regained his composure to finish his story.
"People started calling me a murderer after that. After a year of bullying, Sesshomaru decided that it would be best to move me out of that school and that town in general. I guess Kagome found out through an old post. Obviously, I didn't directly kill her, it was an accident, but I feel like it was my fault."
Each of them obviously took their turns reassuring Inuyasha that it wasn't his fault, but it was clear that he didn't exactly believe him. Miroku decided to change the subject.
"On a more positive note, I talked to the principal, and he said that he's going to make sure Kagome receives proper punishment for what she did to you," Miroku said, smiling. He was happy when Inuyasha smiled too.
"Thanks guys," Inuyasha said.
"Okay, now that depressing stuff is out of the way, what do you guys say we ditch for the rest of the day and go get some ice cream?" Sango offered.
Koga looked over at Inuyasha, wanting it to ultimately be his decision. He was happy to see that Inuyasha nodded and handed Kirara back over to Sango.
"Don't you have practice today, Koga?" Inuyasha asked, not wanting to drag Koga away from his sports.
"Nah, coach canceled it today. I'm all yours for the rest of the day."
Inuyasha smirked and pecked Koga's lips, "your words, not mine, Wolf."
