"Shippō! Get your jacket on, we're gonna go see Uncle Sessy!" Inuyasha said to his and Koga's adopted son. Shippō loved his Uncle Sessy and made sure to be extra good every time he got to go see him.
Koga grabbed his car keys before walking over and kissing Inuyasha's cheek. "You all good getting him ready? I can go ahead and start the car."
Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Koga's waist, pecking his lips. "He's pretty much ready. As soon as he walks out, we can all go out to the car together." Instantly after, Shippō rushed out ready to go.
"Daddy!" Shippō said happily as Koga picked him up.
"Hey buddy, ready to go?" Koga asked, Inuyasha following them out to the car.
"Yeah! Uncle Sessy is awesome!" Inuyasha and Koga chuckled. Inuyasha took Shippō from Koga to put him in his car seat.
"I'm starting to think you like Uncle Sessy more than me and Daddy," Inuyasha joked. Shippō just nodded before giggling and hugging Inuyasha.
"I jus jokin', Papa." Inuyasha kissed the top of Shippō's head before walking to the other side of the car to sit in the passenger seat.
As Koga began to drive, Inuyasha looked down at his hands and played with the black band on his ring finger. It was still hard for him to believe that him and Koga have been married for four years now. Not only that, but they have a kid! This defiantly isn't the life Inuyasha thought he was going to live, but he didn't hate it. He was happier than he's ever been.
He remembered the day Koga proposed to him. It was after their college graduation at the after party. It was the first time in a while that he felt nothing but happiness. And now he was happy that he was going to be able to help a friend give that happiness to someone else.
Sure, they told Shippō that they were just going to visit Sesshomaru, but that was only partial truth. They were helping Miroku propose to Sango at a little reunion Sesshomaru so graciously decided to host.
Koga noticed Inuyasha lost at thought, so he gently grabbed his hand. Inuyasha looked over at his husband and smiled.
"I'm good, Wolf. I'm just thinking," Inuyasha reassured.
Koga nodded, "let me know if you want to leave, okay? I can handle Shippō if he gets upset."Inuyasha nodded, looking back to Shippō as they pulled up to Sesshomaru's house.
"We're here, kiddo!" Inuyasha said, causing Shippō to giggle and attempt to unbuckle himself.
Once they were all out of the car, Inuyasha carried Shippō to the door, Koga following and ringing the doorbell. Sesshomaru appeared a few seconds later, saying his greetings before politely taking Shippō from Inuyasha.
He turned to his brother, giving him a side hug before turning to Koga and doing the same.
"How's things been?" Sesshomaru asked as they all walked further into the house.
"Good, this little guy started kindergarten a couple weeks ago," Inuyasha said, ruffling Shippō's hair.
Sesshomaru turned to Shippō, "is that so? How about we go to the kitchen and get some apple juice, and you can tell me all about it?"
Shippō nodded and the two went off into the kitchen. Meanwhile, Koga and Inuyasha went into the living room to find Sango and Miroku chatting away. They all said their greetings before beginning their conversations.
"How's the married with kids' life going so far?" Sango asked, placing her hand on Miroku's thigh.
"It's going pretty good so far. Shippō's a great kid. He's loving kindergarten a lot and he doesn't really cause much trouble at home, so we haven't lost our minds yet," Koga said, Inuyasha nodding.
"Thankfully we have Sesshomaru to keep him entertained while we talk for a bit. But I have a feeling they'll show up in a second," Inuyasha added.
Right on cue, Shippō ran into the living room with Sesshomaru following him.
"Papa! Daddy! Lookie!" Shippō said as he held out the item in his hands. "Uncle Sessy got me a new stuffie!" In his hands was cradled a dog plushie.
Inuyasha picked up Shippō and put him on his lap. "That's really cool, kiddo. Did you thank Uncle Sessy?" Inuyasha asked as Sesshomaru sat on the chair across from the group. Shippō nodded and hugged the stuffie close.
"So, what's new with you, Sesshomaru?" Miroku asked.
"Oh, well I don't know if I've told you all this, but I am currently going through the adoption process," Sesshomaru said, causing everyone's jaws to drop except for Inuyasha.
"Oh yeah, you did tell me that you were thinking about that," Inuyasha said.
"And neither of you told us?!" Sango asked.
Both brothers shrugged, "forgot." They said at the same time. Everyone face palmed. Shippō didn't know what was going on but mimicked his daddy anyway.
"Anyway, I am going to be finalizing everything tomorrow, so I was planning on inviting Inuyasha, Koga, and Shippō to meet her after a few weeks of her staying with me," Sesshomaru explained. "Her name is Rin, and she is an absolute sweetheart. You'll all love her."
They all talked to catch up for a little while longer until the sun began to set, and the true plan went into motion. That night there was supposed to be a meteor shower and Miroku saw it as the perfect opportunity.
They all went outside to the back patio where Sesshomaru set everything up. Dinner was on the outside table and there were toys around for Shippō to play with. Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Koga sat back on the porch while Miroku and Sango went out into the yard.
Shippō rushed over and pulled on Koga's pant leg. "Daddy?"
Koga looked down and smiled at his son. "What's up, buddy?"
"I go catch fireflies? Please?" Shippō asked politely.
Koha nodded, "go ahead, but leave Auntie Sango and Uncle Miro alone." Shippō nodded before rushing off to the other side of the yard.
Inuyasha and Koga laced their hands together, watching their son cutely run around the yard trying to catch the tiny fireflies in his hands.
Inuyasha lifted Koga's hand and kissed the back of it before looking into his eyes. "We're doing good, huh?" He asked.
Koga smiled and nodded, kissing Inuyasha's lips, "yeah, we are."
All of a sudden, as the meteor shower began, they hear a squeal from the yard. At first, they thought Shippō got hurt, but thankfully it was just Sango. Miroku was down on one knee in front of her. Even though it was dark, they could still make out that she nodded her head, he slid the ring on her finger and picked her up to spin her around.
Shippō ran over shortly after, "Papa! I caught one!"
Inuyasha lifted Shippō into his lap, looking into his hands to see the tiny glowing bug. Shippō then showed Koga, both of them praising him for a job well done.
"We gotta let it go now, though, baby," Koga said. Shippō looked sad for a moment before nodding.
Inuyasha squeezed him tightly, kissing the top of his head. "He has to go home to his daddies." That seemed to brighten Shippō's mood a bit.
He adjusted himself on Inuyasha's lap, reaching his hands out before opening his hands.
The little family watched as the tiny bug flew away, chuckling as Shippō waved it goodbye.
Koga gently took Inuyasha's hand again, "ready to go home? I think Shippō's getting sleepy."
"Yeah, just... let's stay a little longer."
Koga noticed the content look of happiness on his husband's face. He smiled too, kissing Inuyasha's cheek before looking back at the sky.
"Of course, Mutt."
