Thirteen.

Wonwoo woke up alone. Well, not alone because there were still two wolves in the bed with him, but there was no Mingyu to be found. Wonwoo got out of bed and went to the kitchen, smiling when he smelled coffee. He made himself a mug and went out to the back porch where Mingyu was doing his daily drills. He heard the clatter of Pearl's claws as she ran to join in but Piper stayed with Wonwoo, as always. He took up his spot on the swing with Piper's head in his lap, scratching the wolf's head and feeling content to listen to Mingyu's voice calling out to the wolves.

Wonwoo knew that there was still more he needed to learn with Piper but he guessed that they still had time. After Mingyu finished his drills, he worked alone with Pearl for a while, teaching her the basic commands. Wonwoo could hear him out in the yard teaching her to sit, stay, roll over. It was cute how kind he was to his wolves. The alpha really was the kindest man he'd ever met. Wonwoo sometimes wondered how such a sweet person had ever been a soldier, but he knew that military service wasn't all about hurting people. It was about protecting people and your country. It took a strong person to be able to do something like that, to sacrifice your own happiness to ensure the happiness of strangers. Wonwoo really admired that about him.

After a while of working with Pearl, Mingyu came and sat beside him on the porch swing, wrapping an arm around him. Wonwoo leaned into his side and relaxed.

"How did you sleep?" Wonwoo asked, wondering if he'd been up in the night again.

"Almost six hours, which is a pretty good amount for me. I still ended up getting out of bed pretty early but it was at least a somewhat acceptable hour."

"Hey! Progress," Wonwoo said happily, wiggling further into his side as the alpha laughed.

"How about you? Did you sleep well?"

"I did, surprisingly with two wolves taking up more bed than they deserve."

They spent the morning doing their combined laundry and putting it away. Wonwoo was glad because he was running low on clean clothes. There was a housekeeper who came once a week and cleaned but Wonwoo had never met her, too busy with training. He always knew when she'd been by though because the whole place would smell like lemon floor wax afterward. After laundry, Mingyu had work to do in his office. The monthly bookkeeping was apparently a tedious and extremely boring process that Mingyu hated. Wonwoo wound up in bed reading one of his Braille books for a few hours until Kihyun arrived around 2:30.

Wonwoo had no idea why Kihyun thought he needed two and a half hours to get him ready for a date. He was just fixing his hair and makeup a little, and helping him get prepped. However, Kihyun was incorrigible and insisted that they use Wonwoo's room. When Mingyu asked why the omega replied snarkily, "You can't see the full masterpiece until it's completed."

"I'm already in love with him and think he's beautiful. I don't think that a little makeup is gonna affect anything," Mingyu retorted with a smile.

"That's because you've never seen Wonwoo at his best...Just you wait. You'll eat those words."

Wonwoo and Kihyun locked themselves up in his room where Kihyun started in on Wonwoo's hair almost at once, muttering little remarks about Mingyu doubting his skills and how he was gonna show him. Wonwoo just smiled and sat still as he felt Kihyun using some kind of hot tool on his hair. He asked what he was doing and Kihyun said he was adding waves and texture, which meant nothing to Wonwoo really. Next was the makeup, which thankfully wasn't heavy but still felt weird on his skin. Kihyun focused on his eyes for a long time and finally professed himself done after sliding cherry lip balm on his lips. Wonwoo stood and turned to his friend who was giggling madly.

"What's wrong? Is something wrong with my appearance?" Wonwoo asked, hands going up to pat his hair, but Kihyun slapped his hands away.

"You look amazing, and don't touch your hair. It's perfect. Mingyu is gonna flip. Let's get your outfit on 'cause it's almost time for you to go."
