*Later that day*
Yongseo stormed into Mr. Yang's office, already fuming. "I NEVER EXPECTED THEY WOULD BE PART OF OUR RIVAL COMPANY! UNDERCOVER AGENTS?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!"
Mr. Yang looked as calm as ever, adjusting his glasses. "They're not just part of the rival company. They are the rival company."
Yongseo's eyes widened, her jaw practically hitting the floor. "YOU KNEW THIS THE WHOLE TIME?!"
Mr. Yang sighed like he'd been caught sneaking cookies before dinner. "Yeah..."
"WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!" she screamed, her hands dramatically flailing in the air. "I'VE BEEN THEIR FAN FOR YEARS! I WENT TO THEIR CONCERTS! I BOUGHT THEIR MERCH! I HAD POSTERS OF THEM ON MY WALL! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE NOW?! AT THIS POINT, I WANT TO DIE!"
Mr. Yang tried his best to look sympathetic but failed miserably. "Look, you were the only assassin available. All the others were out on missions."
Yongseo groaned, pulling at her hair. "I CAN'T GO TO THEIR FAN SIGNS ANYMORE! I CAN'T GO TO THEIR CONCERTS! I CAN'T EVEN WATCH THEM ON MY SCREEN WITHOUT FEELING BETRAYED! MY LIFE IS OVER!" She dramatically slumped into the chair, burying her face in her hands.
"Uh... Do you want some water?" Mr. Yang offered cautiously.
"I DON'T WANT WATER! I WANT MY SANITY BACK! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, I WANT MY MONEY!" Yongseo screamed.
Mr. Yang slid a briefcase across the table and popped it open. "Well, about that... I can give you $80,000 for now."
Yongseo blinked at the briefcase, her anger boiling over again. "ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW? ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS? YOU MADE ME GO THROUGH ALL THIS, AND YOU'RE HANDING ME NOT EVEN HALF OF WHAT YOU PROMISED?!"
Mr. Yang shrugged nonchalantly. "I had to use the rest to buy the latest weapons. You know, priorities."
Yongseo's eyes twitched. "I! NEED! MY! MONEY! IN! FULL!" She slapped the table with every word for emphasis.
Mr. Yang just laughed, completely unbothered. "Don't worry, you'll get it. I promise next week."
Yongseo shot up from her chair, fire in her eyes. "NOPE. THAT'S IT. I QUIT."
Mr. Yang raised an eyebrow, looking mildly amused. "Quit? Really?"
"YES! YOU ALWAYS DO THIS! YOU KEEP DELAYING MY PAYMENTS! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD IT IS TO PAY MY BILLS?!" Yongseo was practically vibrating with rage, slapping the table again for good measure.
She turned to leave, pointing an accusing finger at him. "Expect my resignation letter by the end of the day."
But Mr. Yang leaned back in his chair, smirking evilly. "Ah, but you won't get your remaining $120,000 if you quit."
Yongseo froze at the door, spinning back around. "WHAT?! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"
Mr. Yang stood up slowly, his voice taking on a menacing tone. "Oh, I can. And don't you dare raise your voice at me. You still owe this company a lot—debts for training, equipment, and my tolerance of your tantrums!"
Yongseo glared at him, fists clenched. "You'll be getting that resignation letter. And trust me, it'll be in bold, underlined, with an extra-large font so even your ego can read it."
Mr. Yang grinned. "I'll be waiting."
Yongseo stormed out, slamming the door behind her. Mr. Kim, waiting outside with an apologetic expression, gave her a weak smile.
"So... did you at least take the $80,000 he offered?"
Yongseo rolled her eyes. "Of course, I took it! What do I look like, an idiot? I've got bills to pay, and his stupid delays aren't helping!"
Her head was practically steaming.
Mr. Kim, ever the calm peacemaker, patted her gently on the head. "Just remember the company policy: no leaking info about Yang and Lee Associates. Or, well... you know how it goes."
Yongseo let out a bitter laugh. "Your boss doesn't even know how to maintain a deal, and you want to talk about policies?"
Mr. Kim sighed. "May peace be with you."
Yongseo threw her hands in the air. "YOUR BOSS AND THIS COMPANY CAN ROT IN HELL!" she shouted before stomping out of the headquarters, her head full of fury and regret... but at least $80,000 richer.
*Later that day*
Yongseo stared at the glaring screen of her laptop, the resignation letter typed and ready to go. The $80,000 she had managed to scrape together was far from enough to cover the three-year course she desperately needed to finish. Now, she had to find a different job—something like a cashier or a waitress. Sure, the pay was meager, but at least it came with the predictability of timely payments.
Yongseo wasn't about to let this get her down. She had investments in Yang and Lee's as well, so she wasn't entirely destitute. Passive income from her bonds and shares would keep her afloat—eventually. But right now, she was facing the cold, hard reality of job hunting.
Lying on her bed, Yongseo couldn't help but imagine the chaos of her resignation letter making its way through the corporate labyrinth. She chuckled to herself as she pictured Mr. Yang and Mr. Lee reading her letter.
Lee Jungwoon, the elusive founder and director of Yang and Lee Associates, was practically a ghost—rarely home and perpetually jet-lagged from international escapades to expand the empire. If only her resignation letter could somehow find its way through the global maze of his business travels and land directly in his inbox. Maybe it would even catch him mid-flight, causing him to drop his coffee and spill his plans for world domination.
With a dramatic sigh, Yongseo hit "send" and watched as the letter whooshed into the ether, its journey beginning to make its way to the busy Mr. Yang and the even busier Mr. Lee. She hoped they would appreciate the humor and efficiency of her digital farewell, even if they were too busy to notice.
