"Did I just drop a bomb or something?" Yongseo asked, raising an eyebrow.
Yoshi, trying to break the awkward silence, said, "No, no, you don't owe us an explanation, but we're all very curious. If you're cool with sharing, that is."
Yongseo sighed and shrugged, "Alright, story time. So, my mom and my biological dad split before I was even a sparkle in the universe's eye. She moved to Canada, and after 9 years married my stepdad, who had a 10-year-old daughter named Raemi, and we had a pretty normal life there for a while. Fast forward four years and Dad's job as a research scientist drags us back to Korea."
She took a deep breath, "But as soon as we moved, Mom started stressing out like she was trying to win a gold medal in worry. When I was 15, she up and vanished one day. Five days later, we learned she had died in a fire at Sejong Hospital."
Jihoon nodded sympathetically, "Yeah, that fire was really tragic. I'm really sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she's found her peace wherever she is now."
Yongseo smiled gratefully, "Thanks, Jihoon. And hey, at least now you all know why I'm so good at dodging awkward family gatherings!"
The members chuckled, and the mood lightened, with Yongseo's mix of humor and heartfelt honesty bringing a new sense of camaraderie to the group.
Asahi hesitated, but finally asked, "Um, don't mind me asking, but why did your biological parents get divorced?"
Yongseo shrugged, trying to keep her tone casual, "Mom never really told me much about my biological father. But from what my dad shared, he was basically a mess. Always drunk, always fooling around with other women. Honestly, my mom, Kang Yoora, had it rough."
Her voice trembled slightly as she swallowed hard, trying to keep the tears at bay. Jihoon noticed, giving a subtle nod to Junkyu, who quickly grabbed a glass of water from the cooler. He handed it to Yongseo like he was performing a secret mission.
"Here, hydrating solves everything," Junkyu said with a soft smile.
"Thanks," Yongseo replied, sipping the water, as the room fell into an uneasy silence.
Suddenly, Hyunsuk and Asahi exchanged a glance that screamed, something's up. Hyunsuk leaned forward, clearly trying to piece something together. "Wait, did you say Kang Yoora?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah, Kang Yoora, my mom," Yongseo replied, slightly confused by the sudden attention.
Hyunsuk's eyes widened. "And... she passed away in the Sejong Hospital fire, right?"
Yongseo nodded, feeling a knot form in her stomach. "Yeah, why?"
Hyunsuk took a deep breath, crouching down to meet her eye level. "Yongseo... Kang Yoora wasn't just your mom. She was an agent for YG."
The room froze as everyone's jaws collectively dropped.
"Wait, WHAT?" Yongseo practically squeaked. "My mom? An agent? No way. She could barely handle figuring out how to use the remote."
Hyunsuk shook his head, "No joke. Kang Yoora was with YG in the late '90s. She left in 2003 but came back in 2017. She was part of the YLA mission, and..." he hesitated, glancing at Jaehyuk.
Jaehyuk, always the one to break tough news gently, sighed. "Yang Seomyeon set fire to the floor where the YG agents were resting after the mission. Your mom... and the others... didn't make it."
Yongseo blinked, trying to process everything. "Wait, so... my mom wasn't just a super stressed-out woman... she was basically a secret agent superhero?!"
Jihoon, ever the optimist, chimed in, "Well, if it makes you feel better, being the daughter of a secret agent is pretty cool."
Yongseo let out a shaky laugh. "Yeah, I mean, I always thought my life was wild, but this? This is on a whole other level."
Junkyu, trying to lighten the mood, piped up, "You know, if your mom was an agent, that explains why you're so sneaky. It's in the genes."
Yongseo chuckled through the emotions. "Guess I'm destined for this life of chaos. Thanks, Mom."
The room filled with a bittersweet silence, a mix of humor and heartfelt realization, as everyone sat with the weight of what they'd just learned.
Yongseo's brain was running a mile a minute, trying to process everything Treasure had just told her. "Wait, hold on. How do you guys know Yang Seomyeon was behind it?" she asked, her voice shaky, feeling like she was seconds away from a full-blown panic attack.
Asahi, ever the calm one, jumped in. "Well, according to YG's spies and healers, all signs point to him. All the YLA agents were conveniently moved two floors down just 1 hour before the fire. No CCTV footage, no official report from the hospital or government, nothing. It screams 'cover-up' louder than Jeongwoo during vocal warm-ups."
Jeongwoo, mildly offended but rolling with it, muttered, "Hey, my warm-ups are legendary."
