Two-Bit and I haven't really seen each other but we occasionally pass each other in the halls at school. We exchange smiles and move on because we don't have any classes together. He finally did call me after about a week.
I plopped on my bed after dinner when the phone finally rang. I answered it.
"Anna?" He said. I laughed a little.
"Well, I was wondering when you were gonna call," I said.
"You're all I've been thinking about. Every minute I spent with you was like being in heaven and looking into an angel's eyes," he said. I laughed.
"What? Did you find that off a greetings card or something?" I said still laughing. He laughed, too.
"You ruined it," he said.
"I'm sorry," I said, but I was still laughing.
He was cracking up, but finally spoke, "No, I found it on a love note or something some kids were passing during third period."
"Wow impressive," I said still laughing. It then got a little silent.
"So how are you liking town?" He finally asked.
"Eh, not much to like but it's nice I guess. There are a lot of prissy and preppy kids at school that get very aggravating, tho."
"None of them have been giving you trouble, right?"
"No it's cool, but that red head just walks around with her side chicks thinking she's all that!" We both laughed. "Like you ain't shit girl!" I said.
"Wait 'till you meet some of the guys. Now those are a bunch of assholes!"
"Oh yeah, I've noticed. You know the ones in khakis and sweaters? I'm like, did your mom dress you this morning?"
"You boys waiting for a flood?" We both laughed at our own jokes some more and talked forever.
I started to yawn. He yawned, too.
"It's almost 2 a.m," I said.
"Yeah I guess it is," he laughed tiredly.
"Well, I guess I should go. See you in school?"
"Yeah.." He said. I waited for him to speak again. "Hey, how about we meet up this weekend?" He finally asked. I've been waiting and wanting him to ask me out.
"Yeah definitely," I said.
"Cool, so we can meet after school on Friday?"
"Yeah where should we meet?"
"Just right outside the school. We can walk to the Curtis house. You know Ponyboy? Well, our gang normally hangs out around there until we figure out something to do."
"Ok sounds fun. Goodnight."
"Sweet dreams." He said and hung up.
