[A/N]: Smut warning this chapter

-ten months ago-

You were escorted rather roughly by a few Peacekeepers towards a railcar in the Capitol's station. You were fortunate to be alive since no one could find any concrete proof that you were also involved with any rebel attacks like your parents. However, because you were still deemed a cheater in the games, Dean Highbottom thought it would only be suitable to send you to the lowest of the low, district twelve.

When the Dean announced this to you, the assured you to not fret since they found proof that Coriolanus was involved with foul play as well. He seemed to celebrate this in a way.

You were curious, despite your anger, you still cared for him. "What's going to happen to him?" You had asked the dean.

"That's none of your concern anymore." Highbottom had answered you.

You were nudged by one of the Peacekeepers to get into to a wagon. You grimaced quietly at the smell of it considering it was the same cattle train that transported the tributes to the Capitol. You stepped inside, gasping when a bat flew towards you. You ducked and it flew overhead and out of the train.

Once you were fully inside, the Peacekeepers shut and locked the doors behind you, sealing your fate. You let out a sigh. You would cry right now if you were capable of doing so. So much has happened too fast for your mind to handle. Just as you were about to take a seat in the corner, you were started by the sound of sniffling.

You turned your head, your eyes settling on a figure that was sitting in the dark area of the train. "Lucy Gray?"

She looks up, startled as well from your presence. She appeared confused as to why you were there, not even bothering to dry her tears. "[Y/N]?"

You both remained in place for a moment, staring at each other. You walked to her and sat down next to her.

"Why are you here?" Lucy Gray asks you in a raspy voice, genuine curiosity behind her tone.

You pressed your lips together tightly before answering. "I'm being sent to twelve."

"What?" She says quietly, not understanding why this was happening to you.

"I was wrongfully accused of cheating. In the games." You tell her, not wanting to get into full detail about what occurred.

"Oh, I'm sorry..." She apologizes to you quietly, before admitting something to you. "When I was lookin' at that compact Coriolanus gave me for the arena and saw the engraving, I knew it was yours. I'm so sorry for keepin' it, usin' it. I just wanted to live."

To your surprise, she seems to have a good idea of what happened. You shook your head, looking at her. "Don't say sorry to me, it's not your fault. I know you were scared."

Lucy Gray nods, tears still slipping down her face from the corner of her eyes as she held a necklace in her hands that belonged to him. "I told Sunny. When we were in the ducts. After he got stabbed, he wasn't dyin' just yet, he was gonna suffer and lose blood slowly. When he asked me for 'water', I put some of the poison in there and...."

Your heart stung as you heard this. You sat there in silence as she trailed off, knowing there was more to what she would say. She handed you the picture the of Sunny's family which you assumed she took from him after he died. You gazed at the picture, sighing quietly to yourself.

"I've been treated like trash my whole life by men. My boyfriend Billy Toupe back at home was cheatin' on me, acted like I was worthless. He was the reason I was sent here. Then I finally met a nice fella who I'm sure woulda loved me like I always deserved and now he's gone."
