The accidental fall had stirred something deep within both Twinkle and Kunj, something they were struggling to ignore. Days passed, but the memory of that moment lingered, replaying in their minds when they least expected it. Twinkle, who was always so good at masking her feelings, found herself increasingly distracted whenever Kunj was around. Kunj, on the other hand, seemed determined to make their playful banter continue, but his eyes held a different story-one of growing desire.
It was a rainy afternoon when the real intensity began to brew.
---
The Storm Outside, The Storm Inside
Twinkle was sitting by the window, watching the rain pour down in heavy sheets, her thoughts clouded like the weather outside. The house was quiet, too quiet. Everyone had either gone out or was busy with their own things, leaving her alone with her tangled emotions. She absentmindedly sipped her coffee, trying to focus on the comforting rhythm of the rain, but it wasn't helping.
Her thoughts kept wandering back to Kunj. Every little interaction with him now carried a weight that hadn't been there before-their teasing, their accidental touches, even the way he looked at her had changed.
"Kya ho raha hai mujhe?" she muttered to herself, shaking her head. "Yeh sab ek accident tha. Uska koi meaning nahi tha."
But even as she said the words, she knew she was lying to herself.
Just then, Kunj walked into the living room, fresh out of the shower, his hair damp and his white T-shirt clinging slightly to his chest. Twinkle glanced up and immediately looked away, trying to focus back on her coffee, but the heat rising in her cheeks betrayed her.
"Tumhara dhyan bahut zyada coffee pe hai, lagta hai meri taraf dekhne ka mann nahi hai aaj," Kunj teased, walking over to where she sat.
Twinkle rolled her eyes but didn't look up. "Main coffee ke baare mein zyada serious hoon. Tumhari taraf dekhne se mere dimag mein sirf extra nok-jhok ka stress aata hai."
Kunj chuckled, sitting down on the chair opposite her. "Stress? Tumhe mere saath itna time guzarte guzarte ab tak toh stress se immune ho jana chahiye tha."
Twinkle shot him a quick glance before looking back at her mug. "Tum stress aur immunity ke baare mein kuch zyada hi confidence ke saath baat kar rahe ho."
Kunj leaned forward slightly, his voice dropping to a more serious tone. "Twinkle, tumne notice kiya hai? Hum hamesha ek doosre se ladte hain, lekin phir bhi kuch alag hota jaa raha hai."
Twinkle's heart skipped a beat at the shift in his voice. She could feel his eyes on her, but she refused to meet his gaze. "Kya farak padta hai, Kunj? Ladte hai, masti karte hai, bas yeh sab life ka hissa hai."
Kunj was quiet for a moment, his gaze steady on her face. Then he sighed and leaned back. "Shayad tumhe farak nahi padta, but I can't help but feel ki kuch badal raha hai."
Twinkle felt a shiver run down her spine, both from his words and the sudden intensity in the room. She finally looked up, meeting his eyes. "Badal raha hai? Tum kis baat ki taraf ishara kar rahe ho, Kunj?"
Kunj's expression softened, and for the first time in a while, there was no teasing in his eyes, no hint of sarcasm. Just... something deeper. "Yeh jo hamare beech mein chal raha hai. Yeh nok-jhok... it's not just nok-jhok anymore. Tumhe bhi yeh pata hai."
Twinkle opened her mouth to respond but found herself at a loss for words. Her pulse quickened, and she could feel the tension between them thickening like the storm outside.
