Karwa Chauth had come and gone, leaving behind a sense of warmth and connection between Twinkle and Kunj. As they returned from the celebrations, the laughter and teasing from their families still echoed in their minds. The playful banter, the shared glances-it was all part of this new chapter in their lives together.
But the next morning brought with it a different kind of energy. Twinkle was busy in the kitchen, preparing breakfast, when Usha entered with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Twinkle, beta," Usha said, taking a seat at the kitchen table. "Can we talk?"
Twinkle looked up, wiping her hands on a towel. "Of course, Aunty! What's on your mind?"
Usha leaned in slightly, her expression turning serious. "Kunj and you are happily married now, right? So... when are we going to hear the pitter-patter of little feet?"
Twinkle's heart skipped a beat, and she nearly dropped the spoon she was holding. "Aunty, we just got married! Give us some time."
Usha waved her hand dismissively. "Time? Time is what everyone says! You know, my friends keep asking about grandchildren. They're dying to know when I will become a grandmother. You should give them something to talk about!"
Kunj, who had just entered the kitchen, overheard the conversation and raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk spreading across his face. "Mom, are you pressuring Twinkle for a baby already? We just had our honeymoon phase!"
Twinkle shot him a glare, her cheeks turning pink. "Kunj! Don't encourage her!"
Usha chuckled, enjoying the banter. "What's wrong with a little pressure? It's a mother's right!"
Kunj leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed, clearly enjoying the situation. "But mom, we can barely take care of ourselves! We still need to figure out how to handle a house without burning it down."
Usha rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh, please! You both are so dramatic. It's time to grow up and think about the next generation!"
Twinkle couldn't help but laugh, shaking her head. "Aunty, I promise we'll think about it, but right now, can we enjoy being newlyweds?"
Kunj chimed in, "Yeah, let's take it one step at a time. Besides, I'm not ready to share Twinkle with a tiny human yet."
Usha feigned disappointment, placing her hand on her heart dramatically. "Fine! But I'm keeping score. You know what they say-first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage!"
Twinkle laughed, feeling the lightness of the moment. "Okay, okay! We'll think about it. But no promises!"
Kunj moved closer to Twinkle, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "How about we start with adopting a puppy first?"
"Or a plant!" Twinkle added, giggling.
Usha shook her head, smiling at their antics. "You two are impossible! But I suppose that's why I love you both so much."
As they sat down for breakfast, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, and the laughter continued to fill the kitchen. The pressure of Usha's earlier words lingered in the back of Twinkle's mind, but she pushed it aside for now, focusing on the moment.
After breakfast, Twinkle and Kunj decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood, enjoying the crisp morning air. As they walked hand-in-hand, the warmth of the sun on their faces, Twinkle felt a sense of peace.
"Do you really think about having kids?" Kunj asked, glancing at her.
Twinkle smiled softly. "One day, yes. But not right now. I want us to enjoy this time together, figure things out, and build our foundation first."
Kunj nodded, squeezing her hand gently. "I agree. We have plenty of time to think about that. And when the time comes, we'll make it an adventure together."
Twinkle felt a rush of affection for him. "I like that idea. Just you and me, against the world."
"Exactly," Kunj said, a playful glint in his eyes. "And then, when we're ready, we can take on the chaos of parenthood together."
They shared a laugh, imagining their future filled with love and laughter, with a bit of chaos sprinkled in.
Later that evening, while they were curled up on the couch, Usha barged in, looking overly dramatic as usual. "What's this? I sense a lack of baby talk!"
Twinkle groaned playfully, burying her face in Kunj's shoulder. "Aunty, please! Not again!"
Kunj chuckled, pulling Twinkle closer. "Mom, can't we just have a peaceful evening without planning our family? You'll give Twinkle a heart attack!"
Usha crossed her arms, a playful pout on her lips. "You both are no fun! I just want to be a grandmother!"
Twinkle looked at Kunj, who was trying hard to suppress his laughter. "Maybe we should just get you a grandpuppy instead."
Usha gasped dramatically. "That's it! A puppy! It can be our first grandchild!"
Twinkle burst into laughter, Kunj joining in as they embraced the playful chaos that had become their life. In that moment, surrounded by love and laughter, Twinkle felt grateful for this new beginning-one that was filled with joy, anticipation, and the promise of more adventures to come.
