Halilintar knew from the start that interacting with Keith was a mistake.

"Come on, man, help me shove this dirt!" Keith grunted, digging away with a shovel, sweat pouring down his face.

They had made a deal—Keith got whatever he wanted from this ominous building, and Halilintar ensured his family's safety. Nowhere in that agreement did Halilintar recall digging a hole being part of the plan.

"And why should I?" Halilintar frowned, standing a few feet away as Keith struggled alone.

Keith paused, wiping his brow with an exaggerated sigh. "Because, Mr. Halilintar," he said in a mockingly formal tone, "we need to infiltrate this building. And to do that, we have to go underground."

"Why not just use the front door like a decent person?" Halilintar shot back, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

Keith groaned, his frustration evident, but he kept digging. He was already shoulder-deep in the hole, which was impressive considering he'd done it alone.

"The system will be alerted," Keith said, his tone suddenly serious. "I've also got intel that it might open, but something worse could happen."

"Like what?" Halilintar asked, tilting his head slightly as he crossed his arms.

Keith shoveled more dirt to the side and replied nonchalantly, "How am I supposed to know?"

Days of working on plans with Keith had done nothing to warm Halilintar to him. In fact, the more time they spent together, the more irritated he became.

Rolling his eyes, Halilintar finally decided to jump into the hole. Keith barely avoided getting knocked into the dirt wall. "Hey! Careful!" he yelped.

Ignoring him, Halilintar summoned his lightning power, forming it into the shape of a shovel at the end of his hand. Keith blinked in surprise but wisely kept quiet, grateful that his so-called superhero partner was finally offering some help.

"Let's get this over with," Halilintar muttered as they dug in silence. The real challenge was just around the corner, and they both knew it.

Which brought them to the unexpected situation they were in now.

Let's rewind a bit.

Keith and Halilintar had successfully finished the exhausting task of shoveling dirt by late evening. After taking a brief rest, they met up again near midnight, ready to infiltrate the building.

They'd navigated through the underground passage and encountered an iron wall that, according to Keith, "doesn't interact with the system."

With a swift slash of Halilintar's lightning, they'd managed to cut through the iron and enter the building without triggering any alarms.

But their success was short-lived. As they made their way through what felt like an endless hallway, a wall suddenly appeared between them, shifting the space around them. In an instant, they were separated with no way to reach or even communicate with each other.

Halilintar questioned his luck for what felt like the hundredth time that day.

"There must be some sort of pattern here," he muttered to himself, eyeing the two doors in front of him. Each one led to an unknown destination, and there was no way to tell which was the right choice.
