Misthi's POV
After that emotionally charged season, I entered the room, which was beautiful. It had elegant white curtains, a white bed with brown blankets, and our couple photos were hanging on the walls. The atmosphere felt soft yet beautiful. Just then, I felt hands on my stomach. I looked back and pecked his lips. He smiled and asked,
"Do you like it?"
"I love it," I replied. Then, I saw the maid entering the room with clothes and soft toys. After they left, he said,
"Go and change your clothes." I nodded, took a long cotton frock, and went into the bathroom.
I removed my jewelry and started opening my dori (dress tie), but it was hard to open.
"Veerrrr!" I called.
"Yes, Liebe," he answered in a concerned voice. I smiled and said,
"Help me open my dori."
"Hmm," he murmured as he untied it. I looked at him through the mirror, and he kissed my forehead, saying,
"Come downstairs; Mumma is waiting for dinner." I nodded, took a warm bath that relaxed my body, then wore my frock and came out.
I entered the dining hall, and Mom helped me sit on the chair, feeding me with her hand. I smiled and glanced at Veer; he smiled back. Then she offered him a bite as well, when we heard,
"It’s not fair! Only Bhai and Jojo? We’re your children too!" I laughed, and she said,
"Come, my babies," as she fed us all. This is what I had always wanted—a sweet, happy, joint family.
We all hugged her.
Five months later...
Now it's my last month of pregnancy, and my health hasn’t been the best, but I feel so blessed having a family like this and a husband like Veer.
"Ahh, Veer," I called while trying to get up from bed.
"Yes, Liebe," he instantly rushed to me, holding my hand. "What happened?"
"Let's go outside, I’m getting bored here." He kissed my forehead and helped me up.
We took the lift, and he pressed the button for the roof.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Wait a minute, Liebe," he replied. I nodded and placed my hand on my hips. I looked like a literal ball these days, having gained a lot of weight. My cheeks had become chubby, and my breasts more sensitive.
I heard the ping sound.
"Come," he said, holding my hand. As I entered, I was shocked. The place—it was so beautiful.
"WOW!" I shouted, looking around the entire rooftop.
"When did you do this?"
"It was completed just a few months ago."
"Ohh, I really, really love it! And so does the baby," I said, placing my hand on my stomach. He placed his hand over mine and said,
"Love you too, Liebe, and our baby." He kissed my forehead.
Then I took him to the swing, and we both sat there. The cool breeze kissed my face, the flowers swayed in the wind, and the entire rooftop was decorated with various flowers. There was a pond with lots of fish, and the swing itself was adorned with flowers.
"Who takes care of this garden?" I asked him.
"One of the maids," he said, and I nodded. He then took my hair and started braiding it when I hesitantly asked,
"Veer?"
"Hm, Jaan?"
I gulped and asked again, "Would... would you leave me if I give birth to a girl?"
I saw anger flash in his eyes as he stood up and walked away. I put my hand over my stomach and said, "Don’t worry, baby. Mumma will never leave you."
Just then, I saw him returning to the garden with plates in his hand
As Veer walked back into the garden, I noticed he was carrying two plates, his expression softened but serious. He placed the plates on a small table near the swing and crouched in front of me, taking both my hands in his.
"Liebe, how could you even think I would leave you, or our baby, no matter what?" His voice was soft, but there was an unmistakable intensity in his eyes. "Boy or girl, it doesn’t matter. This baby is ours. Our love, our life. I would never leave you, no matter what."
I felt a lump form in my throat. His words, so genuine, so full of love, made my heart swell. I couldn't stop the tears that welled up in my eyes, but they were tears of relief and joy.
"Veer..." I whispered, "I just... sometimes I worry. I want our baby to be loved, no matter what."
He lifted my chin gently, making sure I was looking into his eyes. "Our baby is already loved, more than anything in this world. Don’t you ever doubt that." He placed his hand gently on my stomach again, rubbing in soft, soothing circles. "And you, Liebe... You are my everything."
I smiled through my tears, my fears slowly melting away in the warmth of his presence. He stood up, pulling me gently to my feet and led me to the small table where the plates were waiting.
"Now, enough of these heavy thoughts. I made your favorite tonight," he said with a soft grin, pulling out the chair for me. "I know you’ve been craving this."
I sat down, watching him as he placed the plate in front of me. The scent of the meal hit me, and I smiled widely. It was simple, but the care and love behind it made it feel special.
"Thank you, Veer," I whispered, as he sat next to me.
We ate together, under the stars, the soft breeze carrying the scent of flowers around us. The rooftop garden was magical, with the flowers swaying gently, the soft glow of fairy lights hanging above, and the sound of water trickling from the small pond. It was a peaceful, perfect moment.
After dinner, we sat back on the swing, my head resting on his shoulder, and his arm wrapped protectively around me. The night was calm, and for the first time in a while, I felt completely at ease.
"Veer," I whispered, breaking the comfortable silence.
"Yes, Liebe?" he responded, his voice warm and soft.
"I’m so grateful for you, for this family we have. I couldn’t imagine my life without you."
He kissed the top of my head, his hand finding mine. "And I couldn’t imagine mine without you, Misthi. We’ve been through so much, but we’ve always had each other. That’s all that matters."
We sat there in silence for a little while longer, just enjoying each other’s presence. I placed my hand on my belly again, feeling a gentle kick. Veer felt it too and smiled.
"Our little one is excited," he said, placing his hand over mine. "We’re going to be amazing parents, Misthi. I know it."
I nodded, feeling more sure of that with every passing second. The future felt bright, and I knew, no matter what, we were going to face it together, as a family.
