"Bunny, where are you, baccha?" Mishthi called out for her daughter.
Just then, she entered Raghuveer's office and froze, spotting her little girl holding a gun—Raghuveer’s licensed pistol, which he had carelessly left on his desk.
"Veera!" she shouted in panic, immediately placing the food tray on the table before rushing over to her.
"What are you doing? That's dangerous!" Mishthi scolded, quickly trying to take the gun from her daughter’s small, stubborn hands.
"No, Mumma! Veera likes this!" her daughter said in her sweet baby tone, stubbornness flashing in her eyes—the same determination as her father’s.
"Bunny, put it down, please," Mishthi pleaded, trying to pry the gun from her hold gently.
"Nooo, ahhhh!" Veera began to cry, her tiny voice trembling. "I want this!"
Just then, Raghuveer entered the room and immediately saw what was happening. His eyes softened as he approached, lifting Veera into his arms.
"Hey, hey, it’s okay, my baby," he cooed softly, wiping her tears as she whimpered, still eyeing the gun on the desk.
"Okay, Daddy will buy a toy one for his little Bunny," Raghuveer promised with a smile. At that, Veera’s frown disappeared, replaced by a wide grin. She hugged him tightly and peppered his face with kisses.
"Aap bigaad rahe ho," Mishthi scolded, crossing her arms.
"Bigaad nahi raha, Mishthi. She just likes this stuff... And I can’t stand seeing tears in her eyes," he said, wrapping an arm around Mishthi, pulling her into a side hug.
"Don’t worry, Jaan. Chill," he added with a teasing smile.
"Chill, Jaan," Bunny mimicked, kissing Mishthi’s cheek, and both parents smiled at their daughter’s cuteness.
Five Years Later –
Mishthi's pov
"Mohini, how are you feeling?" I asked, sitting beside her as she rested in bed.
"Fine, bhabhi," she replied with a soft smile.
I looked over at the crib, noticing that her baby, Vihaan, was starting to cry.
"What happened to Vihaan?" I asked, concerned.
"Maybe he’s hungry," she said, adjusting herself on the bed just as bhai , entered the room, arms full of junk food packets.
"Bhai , don’t feed her junk food!" I scolded, laughing.
"Tell her, jojo! I’ve been trying to convince her, but she won’t listen," bhai said, shaking his head as he picked up Vihaan and began pacing the room to calm him down.
"When is Raghuveer coming home?" I asked, his tone softening.
"I don’t know, ... Maybe next month," he replied with a sigh.
I made my way downstairs and found Ma watching TV. She glanced at me, her brow furrowed with concern.
"Bacche, why are you walking around so much? Doesn’t it hurt?" she asked, gesturing for me to sit next to her.
I smiled and rubbed my back, grateful for the chance to sit. She kissed my forehead, her warmth and love comforting me.
So, I’m pregnant again—seven months along now. Life has been busy. Mohini got married when Bunny was just one year old, and Mohini has been such a caring sister-in-law. When I suggested my brother give her a chance, I never imagined how perfect they’d be together.
