Misthi's POV

I wake up early in the morning, having spent the whole night watching Veer as he soothed our daughter to sleep. The soft glow of the morning light filters through the curtains, casting a warm hue in the room. I gather my hair into a neat bun, glancing over at Veer, who is now peacefully sleeping, his features relaxed and serene. I lean down to kiss his forehead and then our little bunny’s cheek, feeling an overwhelming rush of love before getting out of bed. Today is a special day—her naming ceremony—and it has already been a week since she was born, a week filled with joy and sleepless nights.

After taking a refreshing bath, I slip into my saree, the fabric flowing gracefully around me. The soft rustle of the saree reminds me of the traditions that bind us. I apply sindoor and fasten my mangalsutra, feeling the weight of our commitment and love. Stepping into my role as a mother and a wife fills me with pride.

I head downstairs, where my mom waits for me, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She lovingly puts khol behind my ear, a gesture that feels both familiar and comforting. I smile at her, a sense of nostalgia washing over me as I recall my own childhood moments. “Thank you, Mom,” I say, my heart swelling with gratitude, and touch her feet in respect.

Suddenly, I hear Yashu crying, and Bhabhi swiftly takes her into the room. My mom glances towards the sound and says, "If Gudiya is awake, give her to me. I’ll give her a bath and massage her." I nod and smile at her, grateful for her help. As I turn back, I see my mother come over to hug me tightly.

"How are you feeling, beta?" she asks, her voice filled with love and concern.

"I'm fine now," I reassure her, embracing my father as well. His strong arms wrap around me, and I feel a sense of safety. Just then, I see Veer coming downstairs, cradling our baby in his arms, his face lit up with pride. My mom takes her from him, her eyes twinkling with affection as she heads off to care for our little girl.

"Hmm, liebe, I want to talk about something," Veer says, his tone suddenly serious, which piques my curiosity.

"What happened?" I ask, cupping his cheeks gently, sensing his concern.

"Is everything okay?" I probe further, worry creeping into my heart.

"Actually, there’s a businessman," he starts, and I hum in response, urging him to continue.

"He sold his daughter," he states, his voice steady but heavy with emotion.

"What? Why would a father do that?" I ask, appalled, feeling a wave of sadness wash over me.

"He approached us with money, so I was thinking we should arrange for her to marry Ekansh. If we don’t take her, he might sell her to someone else," he explains, his brow furrowing in concern.

I kiss his forehead, my heart aching for the little girl caught in such a painful situation. "Did you ask about this Ekansh bhai?" I inquire, wanting to know more.

He nods. "He is ready, but he wants your permission."

I feel a sense of relief mixed with resolve. "Okay then, but what’s her name?"

"Mohini Viswakarma," he replies, and my heart swells at the sound of it, imagining a future filled with love for her.

"Now let’s go; the baby is waiting," I say, feeling excitement bubbling within me.

We all gather for the puja, and the atmosphere is filled with warmth and reverence. The pandit begins chanting the mantras, his voice calm and melodic. I look around the room at our family—each face reflecting love and joy. Bua, Pari, and Suman arrive, bringing with them a sense of festivity. They wear bright smiles and colorful outfits, adding to the day’s brightness.

As the pandit ji announces, "The first letter of the baby’s name is 'V,'" everyone beams, anticipation hanging in the air.

"VEERA!" they call out in unison, their voices harmonizing beautifully.

"Veera Raghuveer Mishthi Singh," I whisper softly, a smile spreading across my face as I repeat her name, letting it settle in my heart. It feels right, a name that embodies strength and love.

The puja continues, and I close my eyes, sending a silent prayer for Veera's future. I envision her growing up surrounded by love, laughter, and all the wonderful traditions that come with being part of our family. I can already see her taking her first steps, saying her first words, and celebrating countless milestones.

As the rituals conclude, I feel a sense of fulfillment wash over me. Today is not just about a name; it’s about welcoming our daughter into our family and community. The air is filled with the fragrance of flowers, incense, and the sweet sound of laughter.

After the puja, the family gathers to feast, and the table is laden with delicious dishes—my mom’s special biryani, sweet laddoos, and savory samosas. As we eat, stories are shared, and laughter fills the room. Veer and I steal glances at our little girl, now asleep in my mother’s arms, her tiny face peaceful and content.

“Isn’t she beautiful?” I whisper to Veer, my heart swelling with pride.

“Yes, she is. Just like her mother,” he replies, squeezing my hand gently.

I feel a warmth spread through me, knowing that together we are building a life filled with love and tradition. As the sun begins to set, casting a golden glow around us, I realize that this day marks not just the naming of our daughter but the beginning of countless cherished memories.

In the midst of the celebration, I take a moment to step outside onto the balcony, seeking a brief respite. The evening air is cool, and the sky is painted in hues of orange and pink. I breathe in deeply, feeling grateful for the life we’ve created.

“Veer,” I call softly, and he joins me, wrapping his arms around me from behind.

“What are you thinking about?” he asks, his voice a comforting whisper.

“I was just reflecting on how far we’ve come and how blessed we are. Our little girl has brought so much joy into our lives,” I say, leaning into him.

“Indeed. She’s our greatest gift,” he replies, his tone filled with love.

As we stand together, I can’t help but imagine all the moments we will share as a family—the first time Veera rides a bicycle, the joy of her first day at school, and the countless celebrations yet to come.

“Promise me we’ll always support her, no matter what she chooses,” I say, my voice steady but laced with emotion.

“Always,” he vows, his grip tightening around me, solid and unwavering.

As the night draws in and the celebrations continue inside, I feel an overwhelming sense of contentment. I know that with each passing day, we will write our story—a story filled with laughter, love, challenges, and triumphs.

Returning to the festivities, I join my family, ready to embrace the love and laughter that fills our home. Together, we celebrate Veera’s naming ceremony, knowing that this is just the beginning of her journey—a journey we are blessed to share with her.
