"Carl, oh my gosh CARL!"

I yelled, overwhelmed with emotion, and started running towards him.

But before I could reach him, he jumped into my arms, wrapping his little arms tightly around my waist.

"Becca!"

Carl exclaimed, his 11-year-old voice trembling with excitement. I lifted him up, spinning him around in a tight hug.

"Carl, my baby brother! I've missed you so much!"

Shane smiled warmly, watching our reunion. Carl pulled back, his eyes shining.

"I've missed you too, Becca! I was so scared!"

I held him close, comforting him.

"You're here your safe."

I said while crying, Shane placed a gentle hand on Carl's shoulder.

"Hey bud where is your mom?"

Carl keep crying then said she was down the quarry washing clothes.

"Ok bud you wanna go with me to see mom?"

I ask, Carl nodded and snuggling into my side.

"let's go see Mom,"

I said, wiping away tears. Shane nodded, his eyes filled with understanding.

"I'll grab our bags and meet you down there."

I smiled gratefully at Shane before focusing on Carl.

"Let's go, kiddo."

As we walked towards the quarry, Carl clung to my side, still sniffling. I held him tight, feeling a mix of emotions: relief, joy, and concern.

When we reached the quarry, I saw Mom kneeling by the water's edge, scrubbing clothes. She looked up, and our eyes met.

"Rebecca!" Mom exclaimed, dropping the clothes and rushing towards us.

I released Carl, and i ran to Mom, throwing my arms around her waist.

"Mom!"

She pulled back from the hug and her eyes locked onto mine, filled with tears.

"My baby's back."

I nodded, smiling through tears. Shane approached, bags slung over his shoulder.

"Lori,"

he said softly. Mom's gaze shifted to Shane, then back to me.

"Thank you,"

she whispered.

As we reunited the only person we're missing is dad but I knew our journey was far from over. But for now, we had each other.
