Nick gave a disgusted look at what Teagan had said. "That is really gross that you said that, you would allow someone like Kurt to screw you. Are you aware of how many girls Kurt fucked? And I'm not talking about his little summer flings that he had at Camp Night Wing. He was quite the ladies' man back in Sunnyvale high. I'm sure he slept with half of the school, minus you and a few others who didn't catch Kurt's eye like that."
"At least Kurt doesn't force people to do things with him...let alone make decisions for them without talking to them first," Teagan snapped at Nick before getting up and walking out of the room.
Nick stood there taking deep breaths trying to calm himself down. The last thing I need is to put her in the damn grave early. Besides, if I want to start a family with her, I'm going to have to play nice. Show her that I'm not the monster that she makes me out to be. Maybe a nice little date night for the little lady and I, Nick thought to himself before he made his way out of the room and down to the kitchen where he spotted Teagan with her back to him.
Nick walked up behind Teagan wrapping his arms around her waist before lowering his head to her ear. I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you before. How about I make it up to you by doing a date night?"
"That depends on whether or not you're going to allow me to make my decision on whether or not I want to go, and where you choose to go for date night, Teagan replied.
Deena got up feeling bummed out. She really wasn't looking forward to going to school today. It would be her first day broken up from the love of her life. Her now ex-girlfriend Sam. Sam's mother had found out about Deena and Sam, and didn't approve of their relationship. And when Sam's mother found out about them, Sam didn't do anything to fight to remain in Shadyside with her girlfriend. She willingly packed up her bags and moved away to Sunnyvale where her parents purchased a house.
I don't have time to go and think about Sam and how she chose to have a perfect dream life in Sunnyvale. I hope that it was worth it, because my heart was shattered to pieces, Deena thought as she gathered everything that had belong to Sam. She put it all in a box before she closed it, carrying it out of her room, making her way down to the kitchen, where she found a bunch of beer cans scattered all over the kitchen.
"Looks like I'm going to have to clean all of this up, once I get home from school," Deena said to herself before she noticed that her little brother, Josh was nowhere to be seen. "Josh come on! Get a move on! If you don't come down here within the next five minutes, I'm going to leave you here, and you can explain to dad as to why you missed school today!"
After two minutes, Josh walked into the kitchen glaring at his sister Deena. "Was it really necessary for you to scream upstairs for me like that? I was talking to someone about the murder and attempted murder that took place at the mall.
"That can wait until after school. School is number one priority, if you plan on getting out of Shadyside, and escape from the curse that looms over this god forsaken town," Deena said.
"And what if I don't want to leave this town? What if I want to stay here and try to find a way to put an end to the curse that haunts the town? Why would I want to leave this town and leave everyone else who lives here to deal with the curse anyway? Why would I want to leave the town for someone else to sit in waiting, for the next person to just snap and become a killer, going around killing innocent people who are basically sitting ducks, waiting to be slaughtered," Josh argued.
"That is not our problem, Josh. That is for somebody else to worry about," Deena said. "Now hurry up before we're late for school."
"You only want to get to school early, so you can speak with your favorite teacher. The one who is always having one on one talks with you whenever something is bothering you," Josh said realizing why Deena was in such a rush to leave.
"She's the only one who gives a damn about everybody who walks through her door. Ms. Teagan always treats us like we matter. And before you say anything smart, she prefers that we call her by her first name, because she refuses to give her last name. Now let's go," Deanna said before leading Josh out the door.
Deena and Josh made it to school, making their way inside to see many glum faces of the students walking around, or huddled together in a group talking. Deena noticed Kate making her way over while Josh stared at Kate in an admiring kind of way.
"Why does everyone look so down in the dumps? I mean even the popular kids look down in the dumps, and they never associated with Ryan Torres or Heather Watkins. Is there something else going on, that wasn't reported in the news, like another death or something," Deena asked Kate.
"Rumor is going around the school that the only cool teacher who allowed all of her students to call her by her first name isn't here this year," Kate said.
"There is no way that is true. It has to be a silly rumor that is going around, because nobody saw her walk into the building yet," Deena said as Simon walked up to them.
"Rumor seems to be facts," Simon said.
"How do you know? Ms. Teag wouldn't leave us like that," Deena said.
"Her classroom now belongs to someone else. That and I overheard the principle talking about how Teag's husband was outraged after she was attacked at Shadyside mall, and that he was there in the office to say she wouldn't be coming back, and that she has found employment somewhere else," Simon said.
"Surely, she wouldn't go and teach at Sunnyvale. She has always talked about how much she always disliked that place," Deena said.
"It was only a matter of time before we lost the one teacher who gave a damn about all of us. All because of a little incident that took place, and she's been chased away; back to the perfect town of Sunnyvale, where nothing ever goes wrong," Kate said in an annoyed tone, masking the hurt that she felt because her favorite teacher had left.
"Kate until we somehow manage to get a hold of Teags, we don't know the full reason as to why she's no longer teaching," Deena said.
"Maybe she will be at the game tonight. If she is then we can talk to her there," Simon suggested.
"I'm not going to the game. Especially if it's an away game. I refuse to go. Besides, I have to get back home and clean up the mess that my dad left behind, and make sure I get all of my assignments done," Deena began to list off.
"You don't get the option. It's a mandatory thing for cheerleader, football players and band members alike. Besides, you can't avoid seeing your ex. You're going to have a run in with Sam at some point or another. So, no running away. You are going to the game, and you are going to face your problems head on, because if I have to do it, so do you. There, now you have a good enough reason to attend," Kate said.
"If I have to face my problems, then you are going to have to do the same. No running away or assuming that our one teacher who gave a damn about us, left after the horrible murder of her student and was attacked by another only to witness him being shot and killed," Deena said as she made her way to her locked with Kate and Simon in tow.
"That would be a lot on a teacher," Simon said.
Deena sat in the back of the bus in her band uniform, lost in thought while holding onto the box in her hand, unaware that she was no joined by Kate and Simon, until Kate cleared her throat gaining Deena's attention.
"I can't believe that I'm doing this," Deena said.
"I can. Listen, Deena you need to do this. It's the only way that you will get closure and move on from Sam. Don't you want to be happy again," Kate asked.
"I guess," Deena said as the bus pulled away from the school.
Nick turned to Teagan, giving her a onceover. "Are you ready to head to the football game?"
"As ready as I'll ever be. God I never thought that I would be going to a football game to mourn the loss of two of my students," Teagan said.
"Keep in mind one of those students went crazy, and tried to kill you in the mall. You're lucky to be alive, because of me," Nick said.
