NOTE: I know it's a little odd to have my author's note at the beginning of the story, but there will be lyrics cited in this chapter, along w/ multiple people 'singing', so I wanted to make it easier on the writing and give you a guide on when a person is singing:

Jay, Jake, Jungwon, Jake+Jungwon

Sunghoon, Heeseung, Sunoo, Ni-ki, ALL

Also, I won't be putting in ALL of the lyrics but just the main lyrics of the songs, so hopefully this makes it easier for whoever is reading =)

Hanni, Minji, Jake, and Jungwon stood around Hanni's locker after school was over. They were all excited for the competition later on tonight, but Jake and Jungwon couldn't hide their nervousness. The competition was starting at five-thirty, with all the participants needing to be there at least an hour before to go through sound checks and find out the line-up for when they'll be performing. From what Jungwon had heard, they would be competing against fourteen other acts, including Park Sunghoon and his friends.

"We'll probably be there around five? I wanna get seats in the front so I can see the nervous sweat dripping down your faces up close." Minji giggled to herself.

"Don't worry, I'll be sure to sweat on you." Jungwon said jokingly as Minji slapped his arm. "I'm kidding! Ow..." He rubbed his arm.

"Is Jay practicing right now? He looked so focused in music class that I didn't wanna bother him." Hanni said.

"His mind has been very... preoccupied since yesterday. I'm pretty sure he's going over his parts though, for sure." Jake responded. "Hey, we gotta get going. We should get there before four-thirty so we can get everything ready."

"Alright, we'll see you guys at the café!" Jungwon said excitedly as the two of them hurried off.

"I should get going too, Hanni. I need to figure out what I'm gonna wear for later. Facetime me when you get home, I wanna see your outfit, okay?" Minji waved and went on her way.

Hanni began to gather all of the notebooks she'll be needing for her homework over the weekend, and put them all into her bag when she noticed Jay walk up to his locker. She smiled at him, but her smile quickly faded when she noticed he didn't acknowledge her at all. Hanni felt like she was looking at the same old Jay that she met on her first day of school, but she still felt the urge to talk to him.

"I noticed you've been playing your guitar instead of your piano during music class." She giggled a bit. "I can't believe Mr. Kim hasn't caught you yet."

"Yeah... me too." Jay grabbed his chemistry textbook and closed his locker.

Hanni could see the uncomfortable look on his face, and watched as he tried his best not to make eye contact with her. It was strange seeing him act like this.
